About the role
Spotlite turns satellite imagery into risk intelligence for critical infrastructure. Utility, energy and transport operators across Europe and the Americas use our products, GeoPulse (ground displacement monitoring with InSAR) and TreeGuard (vegetation encroachment along power lines), to monitor what they cannot inspect on foot.
Spotlite keeps growing, and we need more capacity to deliver without losing quality. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our core engineering team: someone who gets involved with the business, not only the tasks, and helps the team deliver real value to clients.
You'll report to the Director of Engineering and work every day with a small, fully capable engineering team. This role implements features; their design is owned by other people.
What you'll own
Feature delivery. Implementing features with high quality in a product that changes and grows all the time, getting involved with the business and helping the team deliver value.
Issue definition. Reviewing issues and defining them together with the rest of the team.
Bug support. Supporting the bugs the team reports, and helping to resolve them.
Engineering practice. Setting an example in development, in good engineering practices and in the use of AI.
AI setup. Working with agentic AI as the team does today, and maintaining and improving the team's AI setup, as every engineer on the team does.
What we're looking for
Backend: C# and .NET (we use .NET 10 and C# 14), ASP.NET Core, Minimal APIs and dependency injection.
Data: EF Core and PostgreSQL, including migrations, query performance, concurrency and data integrity.
APIs and processing: async-first design, REST and OData APIs, and background processing with Azure Functions.
Frontend: Angular (latest LTS) with standalone components, signals, strict TypeScript and SCSS, reusing existing design-system tokens and components.
Architecture: Modular Monolith, Clean Architecture, DDD, CQRS and vertical slices, and legacy migration strategies such as Strangler Fig. You can design a new module from requirements without AI help, and spot systemic issues: recurring bug patterns, cross-cutting concerns, technical debt and performance problems.
Quality: xUnit, FluentAssertions and Moq on the backend, Vitest on the frontend, and critical code review of both human and AI output.
Cloud and delivery: Azure (App Service, Functions, Blob Storage, Application Insights, Log Analytics), Docker, and CI/CD with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
Observability and operations: custom metrics, telemetry and alerts; debugging production incidents with KQL and PostgreSQL logs; safe practices for migrations and releases.
Work with AI: you use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code every day and on purpose, and have knowledge of agentic AI work, as our team does today. You review their output critically to catch the bugs, security and performance problems that AI and automated reviewers missed. You know when to write the code yourself, and you help improve the team's AI tooling and teach others to use it.
Fluent written and spoken English.
