About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Most QA roles measure how many tests you write. This one measures the defect that never reached a client.
Nyayasiddhi, an Indian legaltech company, is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer (Platform Quality) in Hyderabad.
This is the first dedicated quality hire on our engineering team. You’ll work on software that professionals rely on for real matters, where a defect is a trust problem and not a cosmetic one.
You’ll test deeply, write clearly, and decline to sign off on anything you couldn’t verify.
What you’ll own
Functional and regression coverage across web and mobile
A regression pack that runs before every release, kept trustworthy enough that a green run means something
Release verification evidence: a written record of what was tested, where, and with what result
Defect quality, so every bug you file can be reproduced by a developer on first read
A living permission matrix covering every role and action, with the expected allow and deny outcomes
The engineering craft
Turn specifications, user flows and API contracts into test cases: happy path, negative path, boundaries and permission variants
Run exploratory sessions on new modules before scripts exist, then turn what you find into permanent cases
Test versioned REST APIs for contract correctness, including error handling, validation and safe retries
Verify database state yourself with SQL. An API response alone is not proof
Test authorisation, data isolation and audit integrity with the rigour of a system that will be reviewed later
Check that background jobs complete, retry safely and never double-apply
Extend the automated suite in Playwright and code-based API tests, starting with the highest-risk paths
Test web across browsers and mobile on real Android and iOS devices
Re-test every fix, and publish an honest release note, including what was not tested and why
What we expect from you
2–4 years in software QA on a web product, including at least one year on a product with real users in production
Strong manual and exploratory discipline, with test cases someone else can follow without asking you questions
Hands-on REST API testing (Postman, Bruno, Insomnia or code-based)
Working SQL
Ability to read TypeScript / JavaScript and to maintain automated UI tests in Playwright, Cypress or Selenium
A practical understanding of authentication, roles and sessions, and of what a permission bug looks like in practice
Clear written English, because your bug reports and sign-off notes may be read by auditors later
Comfort with Git, a defect tracker, and a product that keeps changing
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent practical experience
An advantage if you have it
Playwright specifically, JMeter or k6, and CI experience (GitHub Actions or similar)
Flutter or native mobile testing on real devices
Multi-tenant B2B SaaS, or a product with approval workflows
Regulated domains: legal, fintech, healthtech, govtech
Interest in how AI-enabled features are tested and kept honest
What you don’t need
You don’t need legal-domain knowledge, compliance-framework expertise. We’d rather you say so honestly in the interview than over-claim.
What success looks like
Escaped defects trending down, release over release
Zero severity-1 regressions per release
High-risk paths fully automated within two quarters
Defects reproducible on first read, above 90% of the time
A written test record for every release
We don’t reward volume. We don’t count test cases written or bugs filed.
Where this goes
QA Engineer, then Senior QA Engineer (typically 12–24 months), then QA Lead. We promote on demonstrated ownership, not tenure. In a team this size, the person who catches what nobody else catches becomes visible quickly.
