About Speed Radio
Speed Radio is where the world meets to discover ideas, perspectives, and people through short spoken audio clips. Full-flavour listening without the fillers or filters.
We exist to unlock the power of voice to shape beliefs, open conversations, and build community. Through one-minute spoken clips, we deliver inspiration and entertainment that keeps people switched on and dialed in while on the go.
At Speed Radio, we value authenticity over artificiality, clarity over noise, and ownership over hierarchy. Every team member represents our brand externally in how we communicate, execute, and collaborate.
The Role
This role owns the end-to-end execution of Speed Radio's software development lifecycle.
You will be responsible for translating product priorities into executable plans, driving engineering delivery, coordinating releases, and ensuring that work moves efficiently from idea to production.
You will work closely with engineering, QA, product, and ML teams to establish clear priorities, manage dependencies, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain accountability across the development process.
We are looking for someone with strong technical understanding, structured execution, and a high ownership mindset. Someone who doesn't simply track progress but actively drives outcomes, anticipates problems, and ensures the team delivers what it commits to.
You own delivery, not just the process.
What You Will Own:
Engineering Delivery & Sprint Management
Own sprint planning, scope definition, task prioritization, and delivery commitments.
Translate product requirements into actionable engineering plans with clear owners and timelines.
Ensure tasks are appropriately estimated, dependencies are identified, and workloads are realistic.
Track sprint progress, identify slippages early, and take corrective action.
Ensure every task has a clear owner, expected outcome, and completion criteria.
Release Planning and Management
Own release planning and coordination across web, iOS, Android, backend, QA, and ML.
Maintain release schedules, milestones, dependencies, and readiness checklists.
Coordinate development, testing, bug fixing, deployment, and post-release validation.
Establish release gates and ensure critical issues are resolved before production deployment.
Take responsibility for release readiness, communication, and post-release follow-through.
Technical Coordination & Problem Solving
Maintain a strong understanding of the product architecture, technical dependencies, APIs, integrations, and deployment workflows.
Work closely with engineers to understand technical challenges, assess risks, and evaluate delivery estimates.
Identify blockers and drive them towards resolution instead of merely reporting them.
Challenge unrealistic timelines and help the team find practical solutions.
Coordinate cross-functional technical decisions and escalate issues with clear recommendations when required.
Execution Ownership & Accountability
Take end-to-end ownership of commitments made by the engineering team.
Proactively follow up on deliverables and ensure accountability without relying on constant management intervention.
Identify delivery risks, resource constraints, and dependencies before they affect timelines.
Communicate progress, delays, risks, and corrective actions clearly to leadership.
Ensure the team closes commitments and maintains a consistent delivery rhythm.
Quality, Process & Continuous Improvement
Establish and enforce a clear Definition of Done across engineering and QA.
Implement defect severity standards, escalation protocols, and production validation procedures.
Ensure documentation, task tracking, and development workflows remain accurate and up to date.
Conduct post-release reviews to identify root causes of regressions, delays, and recurring issues.
Continuously improve delivery predictability, engineering efficiency, and release quality.
Requirements
3–6 years of experience in technical project management, technical program management, engineering delivery, or software engineering leadership.
Demonstrated experience managing software development cycles and coordinating production releases.
Experience working with mobile applications and web-based products.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, sprint planning, QA, and deployment processes.
Sufficient technical depth to understand architecture, APIs, integrations, technical dependencies, and common engineering bottlenecks.
Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering teams and managing competing priorities.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Comfortable operating in an early-stage startup where processes need to be built, improved, and enforced.
Profile We Are Looking For
Ownership-driven: Takes responsibility for outcomes and follows through without constant supervision.
Technically strong: Understands how software is built, tested, deployed, and maintained.
Execution-focused: Turns plans into completed deliverables and holds timelines accountable.
Structured thinker: Brings clarity to complex work, competing priorities, and dependencies.
Proactive problem-solver: Identifies risks early and drives practical solutions.
Clear communicator: Keeps engineers, QA, product, and leadership aligned.
Calm under pressure: Makes sound decisions when deadlines are tight and production issues arise.
Comfortable enforcing standards: Balances delivery speed with quality and accountability.
