Position Title: Senior Costing Engineer – Retail Fixtures & Bespoke Furniture

Location: Based : Greater Noida Manufacturing Facility (Kasna)
Reports To: Costing Manager / GM production /Opeartions Manager
Job Purpose
The Senior Costing Engineer is responsible for delivering highly accurate, comprehensive cost estimates and financial models for manufacturing large-scale commercial retail fixtures, brand displays, and high-end bespoke furniture. Operating directly from our factory studio, this role bridges design, procurement, and production to optimize manufacturing costs, engineer maximum value, and ensure project profitability from initial design concept through to client delivery.
1. Cost Estimation & BOQ Generation
Analyze architectural concepts, 3D models, shop drawings, and design specifications (wood, sheet metal, acrylic, glass, and hardware assemblies) to evaluate manufacturing feasibility and cost implications.
Develop comprehensive, itemized Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and detailed cost sheets.
Compute total manufacturing costs by accurately factoring in material consumption (with realistic wastage multipliers), factory labor hours, specialized machine routing, surface finishing, packaging, transport, and site installation.
2. Value Engineering & Profitability
Proactively perform Value Engineering (VE) on bespoke concepts to meet strict client budgets without compromising structural integrity or aesthetic intent.
Create alternative fabrication routing and material substitution models to maximize factory margins.
Monitor and analyze cost variances by comparing final actual shop floor production costs against baseline estimates to continuously refine the factory's standard pricing matrices.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Sourcing
Partner with the Design and Technical Office to evaluate cutting lists, parts lists (POM), and optimize raw material yields (e.g., nesting for plywood or sheet metal).
Coordinate directly with Procurement and Vendors to secure real-time market pricing for exotic veneers, bespoke hardware, structural metals, and specialized finishes.
Provide technical backing and data validation to the Sales and Project Management teams during competitive client bidding and supplier negotiations.
4. Database Maintenance
Establish, organize, and systematically update the factory's centralized cost database including material rates, labor indexes, sub-contractor fees, and machinery overhead costs.
Qualification Category - Core Requirement:EducationBachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Civil Engineering; or a specialized degree in Woodworking Technology/Furniture Design.
Experience 5 to 6+ years of hands-on costing and estimation experience within a furniture manufacturing factory or retail fixture assembly unit.
Technical Knowledge : Deep manufacturing fluency in multi-material joinery (MDF, solid wood, veneer, premium laminates), sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, acrylics, and specialized LED lighting integrations.
Software SkillsAdvanced mastery of MS Excel (complex costing formulas, pivot tables). High proficiency interpreting drawings in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or SketchUp.
Key AttributesExceptional commercial acumen, sharp attention to technical detail, and a firm understanding of structural engineering tolerances.
