Field Service Engineer Lithium Ion Battery

The Job is on behalf of Client in the manufacturing of Lithium Ion Batteries
Role: Field Service Engineer — Lithium-ion Battery Packs
Location: Bhiwandi plant (base) + field visits across Mumbai
Industry: Lithium-ion Battery Pack Manufacturing (EV 2W/3W, Solar, Inverter, BESS)
Reports to: Production & Operations Manager / Quality Head
Experience: 2–5 years
CTC: ₹3.5–6 LPA (based on experience) + field/travel allowance
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose returned and in-field battery packs using multimeters, battery analysers, BMS diagnostic tools, and PC-based BMS software
- Identify fault type: cell-level failure, BMS fault, connection/weld failure, balancing issues, thermal damage, or misuse/abuse
- Carry out pack repairs — cell replacement, BMS replacement/reprogramming, re-welding (spot/laser), wiring and connector rework — following safety protocols
- Test and validate repaired packs (capacity, internal resistance, charge-discharge cycling, BMS communication) before dispatch back to customer
Field Service
- Attend on-site service calls at OEM, fleet, dealer, and institutional customer locations across Mumbai and Maharashtra
- Perform on-site diagnosis, minor repairs, and pack swaps; guide customers on correct usage, charging, and handling
- Support installation and commissioning of larger packs/BESS units where required
Warranty & Documentation
- Manage the warranty claim process: receive returns, log claims, assess warranty validity (warranty vs misuse), and maintain turnaround-time discipline
- Maintain complete service records — serial-number-wise fault history, repair actions, and parts consumed — for traceability
- Prepare failure analysis reports and share root-cause findings with production and quality teams to drive corrective action
- Track and report service KPIs: turnaround time, warranty failure rate, repeat-failure rate, and warranty cost
Quality Feedback Loop
- Feed recurring field-failure patterns back into design, cell sourcing, BMS selection, and assembly process improvements
- Support building the service SOPs, spare-parts inventory norms, and (as the network grows) training for dealer-level service points
Must-Have Requirements
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or related discipline
- 2+ years hands-on service/repair experience with **lithium-ion battery packs, BMS, EV powertrain components, inverters/UPS, or electronics repair** — battery-specific experience strongly preferred
- Practical ability to use diagnostic instruments (multimeter, battery analyser, IR meter) and read BMS data
- Hands-on skill with soldering and spot/battery welding; understanding of pack construction (series-parallel configuration, nickel strips, BMS wiring)
- Sound understanding of battery safety — handling of charged cells, thermal runaway risks, and safe repair practices
- Willing to travel for field service across Mumbai/Maharashtra; two-wheeler/four-wheeler licence
- Fluent in Hindi and Marathi; working English for reports and documentation
Good to Have
- Experience reprogramming/configuring BMS via manufacturer software (balancing, protection parameters)
- Exposure to AIS-156 / battery testing standards
- Prior after-sales role at a battery pack manufacturer, EV OEM, e-rickshaw/e-bike company, or inverter-battery brand
