We work with sponsors, vendors, and partners across the United States, and we are growing our internal finance function.
About the Role
We are hiring a full-time Accountant to take ownership of the company's accounting operations. You will manage the general ledger, run the monthly close, prepare financial statements, and work with our bookkeeper and external CPA. This role reports directly to company leadership.
Responsibilities
Own the month-end and year-end close process
Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
Prepare monthly financial statements: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statement
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes together with the bookkeeper
Track revenue and expenses related to sponsorship agreements and partnership campaigns
Manage payroll processing and payroll tax compliance
Prepare schedules and documentation for our external CPA for tax filings and reviews
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable federal and state reporting requirements
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Improve accounting processes and internal controls as the company grows
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a small or mid-sized US company
Solid knowledge of US GAAP
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel
Experience with payroll platforms (Gusto, ADP, or similar)
CPA license or active progress toward CPA is a plus, not a requirement
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet close deadlines
Authorization to work in the United States
Compensation
Salary: $62,000–$78,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
Our range is based on current market data: the national average for staff accountants is approximately $66,000 per year, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median of $83,680 for all accountants and auditors as of May 2025
Annual performance review with salary adjustment
Classification: exempt, salaried position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
