Company: EnergyETA
Role: IoT Workflow & Automation Developer
Experience: 0–3 years (flexible for the right candidate)
About EnergyETA
EnergyETA builds IoT- and AI-based solutions for energy efficiency, equipment monitoring, and automation in commercial buildings. Our solutions combine connected devices, software, data analytics, and automation logic to make building operations smarter and more efficient.
Role Overview
We are looking for a developer who enjoys programming, logical problem-solving, and debugging. The candidate will develop workflow logic and application functionality for IoT-based automation solutions.
You will work with tools and technologies such as Node-RED, Python, and Node.js to implement application logic, process device data, integrate systems, and build automation workflows.
You do not need prior HVAC domain experience. We will provide the necessary domain knowledge and application-specific training.
Key Responsibilities
Develop workflow logic using Node-RED or equivalent programming tools.
Write scripts and application logic using Python and/or JavaScript/Node.js.
Convert functional requirements into clear, structured, and testable logic.
Develop workflows for IoT device monitoring, data processing, rule-based automation, alarms, and equipment control.
Integrate devices and applications using APIs, MQTT, and other communication interfaces.
Debug existing code and workflows, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions.
Test logic for normal operating conditions, exceptions, communication failures, and edge cases.
Support configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and remote management of IoT devices.
Document code, workflows, configurations, and testing procedures.
Collaborate with the engineering team to build, deploy, and improve IoT-based automation applications.
Required Skills
Basic to intermediate programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or Node-RED.
Strong logical thinking and the ability to break down problems into smaller steps.
A genuine interest in coding, debugging, and solving technical problems.
Ability to understand existing code, identify errors, and systematically troubleshoot issues.
Willingness to learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies as required.
A proactive attitude, ownership of assigned tasks, and a focus on delivering working solutions.
Good to Have — Not Mandatory
Experience with Node-RED, Python scripting, or Node.js application development.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addresses, ports, DNS, routing, and firewalls.
Experience with remote access, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IoT devices.
Familiarity with MQTT, Modbus, REST APIs, JSON, or Linux.
Exposure to Git, version control, and software testing.
Experience with IoT systems, embedded devices, or industrial automation.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome fresh graduates and early-career developers who enjoy building things through code and solving problems.
You may be a good fit if you:
Enjoy understanding how things work rather than just following instructions.
Can think logically and approach debugging systematically.
Are comfortable experimenting, testing, and learning from errors.
Want to work on real-world IoT and automation applications.
HVAC or building automation experience is not required. We will train you on the domain and application logic.
How We Evaluate Candidates
Selection will focus on practical problem-solving, basic programming ability, debugging approach, learning agility, and ownership.
Candidates may be asked to solve a small programming or workflow-logic problem as part of the selection process.
