Senior Solutions Architect

Job Description
Affinity Group is hiring a Senior Solution Architect for a major BC public sector client. You'll join a finance business planning team that owns an in-house Financial Planning & Analytics web application used across the organization and partner agencies.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role. You'll design, build, host, test and support the application yourself, and lead its move to new server infrastructure over the next year.
What You'll Do
Complete and launch a standalone instance of the application for a partner organization, building enhancements from user feedback
Design and configure IIS hosting, working with infrastructure teams to give external users secure, reliable access
Build automated API testing into the CI/CD pipeline to improve quality and release reliability
Assess the current architecture and recommend improvements for scalability, performance and maintainability
Work with the reporting team to build and maintain integrations between the application and SSAS-based reporting
Provide production support: troubleshoot issues, find root causes and deliver fixes
Demo new features to finance stakeholders, gather feedback and turn it into future improvements
Plan and lead a server migration: dependency mapping, risk and capacity analysis, security, and implementation, testing, rollback and cutover plans with minimal downtime and no data loss
Submit weekly status reports and document designs, models and solutions
What You Bring
Senior-level experience designing and supporting enterprise solutions on the Microsoft stack: .NET Framework, ASP.NET, Web API, SQL Server
Full-stack development with React, Node.js, JavaScript and CSS, with a strong eye for modern UX/UI
Advanced SQL Server skills: database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, data modelling and ETL
Deep IIS experience: configuration, deployment, authentication, security, performance tuning and troubleshooting
DevOps practice: Git, CI/CD pipeline design and automation, release management and automated API testing
Experience leading application or server migrations
Business analysis and project planning skills
Clear communicator who can work with both business users and technical teams
Nice to have
Power BI governance: workspace management, deployment pipelines, row-level security and data access controls
SSAS or broader Microsoft BI experience
Finance, FP&A or budgeting application background
Experience in BC public sector or healthcare
Data quality, reconciliation and security model experience
Working arrangements
Hybrid, with on-site attendance in the Burnaby area as needed
Core hours 9:00 to 5:00 Pacific
Agile, iterative environment with frequent user check-ins
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
