How will you make a difference?
Performs manual and clerical duties related to storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. Incumbents perform many of the same duties as a Materials Handler Assistant but are distinguished in that incumbent’s exercise decision making and independent judgement due to a broader knowledge of the materials handling operation and provide on the job training and problem resolution to others. Incumbents may be responsible for a higher volume, high dollar amount and/or be assigned responsibility over one or more specified areas. Incumbents are expected to handle high-dollar cost and fragile equipment or supplies and hazardous materials, such as chemicals or gases, when necessary. May be required to lift heavy objects.
What do we want to know about you?
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical associate’s degree; 3 – 6 years of work-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
What will your typical day look like?
· Counts, weighs, or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
· Transport material from receiving areas to storage locations or designated areas.
· Understanding warehouse locations and inventory systems.
· Providing needed parts to assembly cells.
· Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to management.
· Perform cycle counts and enter results in ERP system.
· Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
· Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
· Knowledge of record keeping practices.
· Knowledge of safety practices.
· Skill in lifting heavy packages and objects.
· Utilizes computerized or automated systems to accomplish tasks.
· Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Ability to follow instructions, and management directive.
· Ensure a safe working environment, good housekeeping and 5’s for your respective area and all VBI.
What about the physical demands of the job?
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach hands and arms and talk or hear.
· The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
