Senior Accountant

Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Saint Louis, MO. Summary: The client is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to provide hands-on accounting support during a busy period that includes year-end activities, audit preparation, and supporting accounting work during an accounting software conversion. This individual will take ownership of recurring accounting responsibilities, reconciliations, and workpapers, allowing the Controller to focus on the system conversion and higher-level accounting initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong, independent accountant who is highly proficient in Excel and comfortable stepping into an established process with limited oversight. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain monthly accounting workbooks and supporting schedules
Perform account and general ledger reconciliations
Research and resolve discrepancies between supporting schedules and the GL
Prepare and maintain audit workpapers and supporting documentation
Assist with month-end accounting activities
Prepare AR roll-forwards and other account activity schedules
Support accounting activities related to management and development company operations
Review partnership agreements and extract relevant financial information, including developer fees and payment schedules
Translate information from agreements and supporting documentation into established Excel workpapers
Assist with closing entries
Maintain and troubleshoot existing Excel-based accounting files and formulas
Partner with the Controller to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and more complex issues
Requirements
Senior Accountant-level experience or above
Strong accounting foundation, including reconciliations, month-end accounting, and audit support
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to troubleshoot existing formulas and workbooks
Experience with modern Microsoft 365 Excel functionality, including dynamic array and FILTER formulas
Ability to work independently, investigate issues, and problem-solve with limited supervision
Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly learn established accounting processes
Preferred Experience
Real estate accounting experience is preferred but not required
Public accounting experience is a plus
Experience reviewing partnership agreements or similar financial/legal documents
Office Connector experience preferred
Sage experience is a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
