About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
The role
You will own our cloud infrastructure end to end. Your mission is to make our platforms scale without breaking, and to let us ship backend updates anytime without downtime. This is a foundation-building role: you will design the architecture, not just maintain it.
What you’ll do
Design and implement a scalable, highly available architecture on AWS (ap-southeast-3) for multiple products, with proper isolation between them
Implement zero-downtime deployments (blue-green, rolling, or canary) for our backend services
Set up and manage load balancing and auto-scaling (ALB/NLB, Auto Scaling Groups, or ECS/EKS)
Manage Cloudflare: DNS, CDN, WAF, rate limiting, DDoS protection, caching rules
Improve database reliability and scalability: Multi-AZ, read replicas, backups, point-in-time recovery, connection pooling, and safe migration strategy
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI)
Manage infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
Build monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, Grafana/Prometheus, or equivalent) and define SLOs
Run load testing and capacity planning ahead of growth and campaign spikes
Own security and access: IAM least privilege, VPN, secrets management, network segmentation
Optimize AWS cost as we scale
Lead incident response and write postmortems
What we’re looking for
5+ years in DevOps / Cloud / Infrastructure, with at least 3 years hands-on with AWS in production
Proven experience scaling a system to hundreds of thousands or millions of users (please share specifics)
Strong understanding of system architecture: stateless services, caching (Redis), queues/workers, horizontal scaling
Hands-on with zero-downtime deployment and backward-compatible database migrations
Solid experience with Cloudflare and load balancing
Comfortable with Docker; Kubernetes/ECS experience is a plus
Experience with Terraform or other IaC
Strong Linux, networking, and troubleshooting fundamentals
Able to work independently and explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-infra stakeholders
Nice to have
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional)
Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL at scale
Experience supporting mobile app backends (Kotlin/Swift/Flutter clients)
Experience in startups or lean teams
Why join
