IT application operation specialist

Role Description The IT Application Operation Specialist is a part-time, remote role focused on ensuring the reliable operation and support of key applications used across Forensic Science Ireland. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring application performance, investigating and resolving incidents, managing user access and permissions, and coordinating with IT and business stakeholders on enhancements and updates. The specialist will provide technical support to internal users, document recurring issues and solutions, and contribute to maintaining application security and data integrity. Additional tasks may include participating in change management processes, supporting application testing during upgrades, and recommending improvements to optimize business processes and system workflows.
Qualifications
Strong application support and technical support skills, including experience troubleshooting and resolving issues in complex IT environments.
Solid foundation in information technology, with knowledge of IT systems, application architectures, and security best practices.
Demonstrated analytical skills, with the ability to interpret logs, identify patterns, and diagnose root causes of application problems.
Understanding of business process design and optimization, with the ability to align application functionality to operational needs.
Relevant qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience working in regulated or highly confidential environments; familiarity with justice or public sector settings is an advantage.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support diverse stakeholder groups remotely.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time schedule.
