About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Detailed Responsibilities
Design & Engineering Support Design and develop new motor products, including electromagnetic,
mechanical, and thermal design, from initial concept through detailed engineering drawings.
Perform electromagnetic simulations and calculations (e.g., using tools like ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD)
Conduct mechanical design of motor components (rotor, stator, shaft, bearings, housing, windings) using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Knowledge of winding design, magnet selection (rare earth/ferrite), and thermal management.
Create and maintain BOMs, engineering drawings, tolerances, and design specifications (GD&T).
Testing & Report Develop prototypes and coordinate build, testing, and validation of new motor
designs.
Analyse test data (performance, thermal, vibration, noise, durability) and iterate designs to meet
specifications.
Collaborate with manufacturing/process engineers to ensure designs are optimised for production
(DFM/DFA).
Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (IEC, NEMA, UL, ISO, etc.) and safety/regulatory
requirements.
Create reports of tolerance stack-up analysis and DFM/DFA principles.
Training & Continuous Improvement Stay current with emerging motor technologies, materials, and
manufacturing techniques.
Manage or contribute to new product development (NPD) timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of electric motor theory (BLDC, PMSM, stepper motor control) and mechanical gear systems.
Familiarity with CAD (for understanding designs) and basic FEA/simulation concepts is a plus.
Hands-on experience with test equipment: dynamometers, power analysers, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems.
Experience with Six Sigma/DFMEA/FMEA methodologies.
Prior experience taking a product from concept to mass production.
Hands-on experience with inspection tools and shop-floor processes.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (IEC, NEMA, ISO, AGMA, UL)."
