About Bellatrix Aerospace
Bellatrix Aerospace is an Indian space technology company focused on developing innovative propulsion systems and advanced technologies for satellites and spacecraft. The company aims to advance space exploration by developing efficient, reliable, and sustainable propulsion solutions for the growing space industry.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Aerospace Propulsion Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical design, propulsion system components, engineering analysis, and testing. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, fabricating, testing, and qualifying propulsion system components while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in mechanical design, 3D modelling, engineering drawings, material selection, and component validation, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, fabricate, test, and qualify propulsion system components, ensuring their reliable performance and suitability for space applications.
Perform component and part design based on technical requirements and design inputs, including mathematical calculations, engineering documentation, and design drawings.
Participate in the design, construction, assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion components and subsystems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, build, integrate, and validate propulsion systems and associated components.
Ensure all design activities comply with applicable engineering standards, quality assurance requirements, design guidelines, practice notes, statutory regulations, and codes of practice.
Select suitable materials for mechanical components, considering metals, insulators, plastics, connectors, gaskets, thermal interface materials, potting materials, and other relevant materials.
Perform basic mechanical design analyses, including thermal and structural assessments, design for assembly (DFA), and design for testability (DFT).
Develop engineering test plans, prepare manufacturing instructions, and create complete drawing packages for components and assemblies.
Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as required.
Validate components against defined engineering requirements and support qualification testing.
Assist in failure investigations and perform fault tree analysis in collaboration with safety and engineering personnel.
Review laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards and recommend improvements where necessary.
Identify and resolve engineering problems through systematic analysis and the development of alternative solutions.
Provide technical guidance, training, and support to graduate engineers and new team members.
Manage assigned projects and perform additional responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualification and Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
More than 2 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design, propulsion systems, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
Experience with 3D mechanical design, engineering drawings, and design analysis tools.
Familiarity with component fabrication, assembly, testing, validation, and qualification processes is desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and unambiguous technical documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate effectively with engineers, technical teams, and management.
A self-driven approach, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to adopting innovative engineering practices.
Required Skills
Mechanical Design: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, component design, engineering calculations, and material selection.
CAD and Drafting: Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and 2D drafting using tools such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent software.
