We’re hiring: Junior Backend Engineer (Remote Internship) at GalenAI 🚀
GalenAI is an AI-native platform for competency-based medical education (CBME), built for both sides of the classroom.
For students: a daily learning app with a personalised AI tutor grounded in their institution’s approved content, plus clinical cases and adaptive QBanks that build clinical reasoning, not just recall.
For institutions: an AI Workspace where faculty create competency-based lessons, PPTs, assessments, and cases, alongside timetables, competency calendars, and cohort and department analytics, all in one workflow that helps medical colleges deliver their whole syllabus faster.
We’re looking for a junior backend engineer to build the services behind it. You’ll ship production code from week one, with support from senior engineers.
What you’ll do
→ Design, build, and ship backend services and APIs
→ Integrate LLM APIs into tutoring and clinical-case features, and evaluate outputs
→ Own database work: schema design, queries, migrations
→ Write tests, monitor services, and debug production issues
→ Review code and document what you build
What we’re looking for
→ Solid grounding in one backend language: Python, Go, or Node.js
→ Working knowledge of SQL and API design
→ Hands-on experience with AI: LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG, or serious side projects
