We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Payment Posting associate to join our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team. The role will be responsible for supporting accurate and timely healthcare billing, processing insurance and patient payments, posting payments and adjustments, reviewing EOBs/ERAs, and ensuring patient accounts are accurately maintained throughout the revenue cycle.
The ideal candidate has experience in US healthcare medical billing and payment posting, understands the healthcare revenue cycle, and is comfortable working with insurance claims, payer remittances, and electronic billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to commercial and government insurance payers.
Perform billing activities in accordance with payer requirements and established billing guidelines.
Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and required information prior to submission.
Process and post insurance and patient payments accurately and in a timely manner.
Review EOBs/ERAs and accurately interpret payment, adjustment, denial, and patient responsibility information.
Apply payments, contractual adjustments, write-offs, and other account adjustments to the appropriate patient accounts.
Reconcile posted payments against EOBs/ERAs and payment reports to ensure accuracy.
Identify and resolve payment posting discrepancies, unapplied payments, duplicate payments, and account variances.
Review rejected and returned claims and coordinate corrections and resubmissions as needed.
Ensure accurate posting of denials, underpayments, overpayments, and patient balances.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of billing and payment posting activities.
Work closely with AR, Billing, Coding, Collections, and other RCM teams to resolve account discrepancies and billing issues.
Assist with account reconciliation and identify trends or recurring billing and payment issues.
Maintain productivity, accuracy, and quality standards established for the account.
Follow payer requirements, company policies, HIPAA requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Escalate complex billing, payment, or account issues according to established procedures.
Perform other billing and payment posting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least 1–2 years of experience in US healthcare medical billing, payment posting, or related RCM functions.
Experience working with hospital or healthcare provider billing is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of the US healthcare revenue cycle.
Experience with medical claims, insurance billing, payment posting, and account reconciliation.
Strong knowledge of EOBs, ERAs, contractual adjustments, denials, and patient responsibility.
Familiarity with commercial and government payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, UHC, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and BCBS.
Experience using payer portals and medical billing/RCM systems.
Meditech experience is preferred/required, depending on account assignment.
Experience with electronic remittance and clearinghouse systems is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling high-volume accounts.
Ability to work independently while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
