Job Summary
HealthReconConnect is looking for a detail-oriented Payment Posting / Cash Posting Associate to join our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team. The ideal candidate will have experience posting insurance and patient payments, reconciling payments against claims and patient accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records in a healthcare billing environment.
The successful candidate will help ensure timely and accurate payment posting, identify discrepancies, and support the overall efficiency of the revenue cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Post insurance payments, patient payments, and electronic remittance advice (ERA/EOB) transactions accurately into the billing system.
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs) to ensure proper payment allocation.
Reconcile payments, adjustments, contractual allowances, and patient balances against corresponding claims and accounts.
Identify and investigate payment discrepancies, underpayments, overpayments, and unapplied cash.
Process contractual adjustments, denials, and payment reversals according to established procedures.
Ensure accurate documentation and maintain updated payment posting records.
Coordinate with Accounts Receivable (AR), billing, and denial management teams to resolve posting-related issues.
Meet established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround-time targets.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient information.
Qualifications
Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare payment posting, or revenue cycle management.
Knowledge of insurance payment posting, EOBs, ERAs, contractual adjustments, and reconciliation procedures.
Familiarity with healthcare billing systems and electronic remittance workflows.
Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve payment-related issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet performance targets.
Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of protecting confidential patient information.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with US-based hospitals, healthcare providers, or healthcare organizations.
Familiarity with healthcare billing platforms such as Epic, MEDITECH, Cerner, or other practice management and hospital information systems.
Experience handling high-volume payment posting and cash reconciliation.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payment processes.
