About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Every member of our Madrigal team is connected by our shared purpose: leading the fight against MASH.
Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).
Our success is driven by our people. We are building a dynamic, inclusive, and high-performing culture that values scientific excellence, operational rigor, and collaboration. To support our continued growth, we are strengthening our workforce strategy to ensure we have the right talent, at the right time, in the right way.
The Senior Director, Data Operations & Enablement is the senior operator and point of contact for Madrigal's commercial data ecosystem — accountable for the reliability, quality, integration, and scalability of the data that powers the entire Commercial organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, Commercial Data Strategy & Analytics, this leader owns the operations of the end-to-end commercial data supply chain: source integration, data quality, master data management, data products, and business intelligence. The role turns a growing collection of internal and third-party data assets into trusted, governed, analytics-ready products, and builds the team, processes, and architecture to scale that operation as Madrigal's portfolio and data footprint grow. This is a team leader, business enabler, and a hands-on operator — one who sets the multi-year data operations roadmap while keeping day-to-day operations running with high reliability.
Role & Responsibilities
Own the reliability and business continuity of the commercial data operation — establishing SLAs, monitoring, alerting, and incident management that ensure timely, accurate data delivery across all Commercial functions — and run the end-to-end data supply chain from source ingestion through curated, consumption-ready layers.
Own integration of all commercial data sources — including specialty pharmacy / hub, IDN, claims, distributor 852/867, syndicated (e.g., IQVIA), CRM / Veeva, formulary and access (e.g., MMIT), and gross-to-net / contract (e.g., Model N, IntegriChain) data — into governed, analytics-ready assets.
Set and evolve the commercial data architecture on a modern cloud platform (e.g., Azure / Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake), applying medallion / lake house patterns for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency in partnership with the Data Strategy & Enrichment lead
Establish and enforce enterprise-grade data quality frameworks — validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and root-cause remediation — with clear data stewardship and accountability across domains.
Own master data management (MDM) across customer / HCP / HCO, product, payer, and territory domains, including identity resolution, hierarchy management, and reference data.
Operationalizing a catalog of reusable, governed data products and a semantic layer that enable trusted self-service analytics and AI.
Own the business intelligence platform and governed reporting layer (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), enabling consistent, reliable, self-service reporting across the Commercial organization.
Establish data governance, cataloging, and lineage (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements — including HIPAA / expert-determination standards, patient-level tokenization (e.g., Datavant, IQVIA) — in partnership with Privacy, Legal, IT Security, and Compliance.
Build, lead, and scale a multidisciplinary team spanning data engineering, data operations, BI development, and data stewardship; operate as a player/coach, shape the org design, and develop talent.
Manage relationships and commercials with data aggregators and platform vendors, partner closely with enterprise IT, and own the multi-year data operations roadmap — driving automation, modernization, and AI-enablement of data operations (e.g., AI-assisted data quality, pipeline monitoring, and metadata management) to scale efficiently.

15+ years of experience in data operations, data engineering, data management, or commercial data within pharmaceutical or biotech, including hands-on work with commercial data sources.
Experience leading, building and scaling multidisciplinary data teams.
Demonstrated ownership of data integration, data quality, and master data management (MDM) in a production environment.
Experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure / Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake) and data integration / ETL-ELT at scale.
