A B2B SaaS company is Looking for:
Team Leader, Abuse Desk
This is a hands-on senior practitioner role, not a people manager who sits above the work. The Team Leader is accountable for the performance of the Abuse Desk as a whole, develops and manages a small team, and stays close enough to the platform to build things personally.
They set daily priorities across the escalation and postmaster queues, set the standards for how cases are worked and documented, own the abuse tooling roadmap, and specify the work that goes to Atmail''s engineering teams. They analyse traffic and complaint data across four platforms to spot abuse trends before they become incidents, and report those trends to the business in terms a non-specialist can act on.
Externally, they are an active participant in the anti-abuse industry, including M3AAWG working groups, and build working relationships with the postmaster teams at the major mailbox providers and with blocklist operators.
Essential
7+ years of hands-on email operations or anti-abuse experience at a mailbox provider, ISP or email security vendor, protecting large-scale email deployments.
Has led a small technical team, including recruiting, onboarding, setting priorities and managing performance against agreed measures.
Strong hands-on scripting and data analysis (SQL, Bash, Python): able to write production-quality scripts and filtering rules and interrogate large data sets.
Extensive experience with anti-abuse systems and services such as Spamhaus, Abusix, Cloudmark, Vade, Cyren, IronPort or similar.
Proficient with SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC and SRS.
Project management capability, evidenced by at least one of: practical project management in Jira or an equivalent tool, a recognised project management
qualification, or a delivery role with heavy exposure to project management techniques. Atmail will not hire without at least one of these.
Experience working with vendors and internal engineering teams to scope, evaluate and deliver technical solutions.
Comfortable presenting to both engineers and executives self-directed in a fully remote environment.
Bachelor degree (or higher) in a technology field, or equivalent experience.
Desirable
Experience developing and configuring large-scale email server technologies.
Direct experience with an open-source filtering stack such as Exim and rspamd, with commercial scanning products layered on top.
Existing M3AAWG engagement, or established relationships with postmaster and anti-abuse teams at major mailbox providers.
Experience working with global teams across time zones.
