About The Role
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join Bet365’s expanding data function, focusing on building and maintaining scalable, intelligent data systems across our global platforms. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within the AI & Automation department, a team dedicated to transforming complex data into actionable insights through advanced cloud technologies and machine learning. The successful candidate will be instrumental in transitioning data infrastructure from traditional SQL Server environments to a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, ensuring data integrity, automation, and process efficiency. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data engineering, with proven experience in SQL Server and cloud platforms. Essential qualifications include proficiency in SQL Server 2014 or later, comprehensive knowledge of the MSSQL BI Stack (including SSRS and SSIS), and familiarity with GCP services such as BigQuery and Looker. Experience with version control systems like GitLab or equivalent is also required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, and a proactive approach to leveraging AI-powered tools for development acceleration. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications in cloud platforms or data engineering.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end delivery of regulatory data projects, from requirements gathering to deployment. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining robust T-SQL stored procedures and SSRS reports to support core business operations. The role involves shadowing senior colleagues to gain hands-on experience with GCP environments, with a clear pathway toward independent cloud development. You will leverage AI-powered tools to streamline coding tasks and accelerate development cycles, ensuring high data quality and minimal disruption to critical processes. Additionally, you will investigate and resolve complex data issues, partner with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines effectively, and contribute to the evolution of development standards and best practices to ensure consistency across all data solutions.
