About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, VA. This full-time onsite position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data management and analytics within a mission-critical environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data backend workflows that facilitate secure data operations across multiple systems and security domains. This role requires a strong understanding of databases, cloud architectures, and compliance standards, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over 18 years of professional experience, with educational qualifications including a Bachelor's degree (which can account for 4 years of experience) or a Master’s degree (adding an extra 2 years of experience). Candidates should demonstrate at least 4 years of hands-on experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud-based architectures. Proficiency in leveraging APIs for system querying and data migration is essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java, along with developing and monitoring operational data pipelines supporting various data formats, will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain infrastructure for storing and processing data related to emergent sensors and platforms, including database schema design, data health alerts, and data pipeline setup for ETL processes.
Utilize scripting tools, programming languages, and software packages to build robust data pipelines that support mission-critical data consumption and analytics needs.
Support data analytics, cleansing, and transformation activities to enhance analyst workflows and ensure data quality and consistency.
Manage data generation, approval, and population into databases, ensuring compliance with security regulations and customer specifications.
Conduct regular quality control checks and monitor data content to ensure alignment with existing standards and requirements.
Assess and report on the current state of data compliance, monitor changes in standards, and adjust data architecture accordingly to maintain compliance.
Maintain data availability, accuracy, and reliability for all training data operations, supporting ongoing mission needs.
Create and sustain government-approved software and computing environments to facilitate data preprocessing activities, including establishing connections to external systems and managing repositories.
Support setup and maintenance of data pipelines across all security domains, ensuring secure and efficient data processing workflows.
