About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) to lead corporate sustainability strategy, environmental initiatives, ESG programs, and long-term sustainable business development.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive executive leadership experience, strong strategic judgment, and a proven ability to integrate sustainability objectives into business operations while supporting organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement corporate sustainability strategies aligned with company objectives.
Lead environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across the organization.
Establish sustainability goals, performance indicators, and long-term improvement plans.
Oversee environmental risk assessments and sustainability compliance programs.
Collaborate with executive leadership, finance, operations, and risk management teams.
Identify opportunities to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Develop sustainability reporting frameworks and monitor organizational performance.
Evaluate emerging sustainability regulations, industry standards, and market developments.
Build relationships with external stakeholders, industry organizations, and strategic partners.
Integrate sustainability considerations into business planning and operational decisions.
Recruit, mentor, and lead sustainability and ESG management teams.
Provide sustainability performance reports and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the board of directors.
Background and Experience
At least 15 years of experience in sustainability management, environmental strategy, ESG, corporate governance, or related fields.
Previous senior leadership experience as a Chief Sustainability Officer, Vice President of Sustainability, ESG Director, or comparable executive.
Proven experience developing and implementing corporate sustainability strategies.
Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, environmental regulations, sustainability reporting, and risk management.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing sustainability improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of corporate governance, responsible business practices, and sustainable growth.
Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage geographically distributed teams in a remote working environment.
A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required.
An MBA, master's degree in Sustainability, or relevant advanced qualification is preferred.
