Consultant - Supplier Development, Polymer Compounds & Masterbatches

Our client, a specialty distributor focused on polymer compounds and masterbatches, is looking for an experienced Independent Consultant to support a short-term supplier development pilot in India for 4–6 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Identify potential small-to-medium manufacturers of polymer compounds and masterbatches in India.
Map manufacturers specializing in engineering thermoplastic compounds, masterbatches, and related polymer materials.
Assess potential suppliers based on product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities, market presence, and suitability for a distribution partnership.
Identify and connect with relevant commercial and technical decision-makers at target manufacturing companies.
Establish initial contact with potential suppliers to gauge their interest in exploring a distribution relationship.
Facilitate substantive introductory discussions between the client and shortlisted manufacturers.
Develop a qualified pipeline of potential manufacturing partners for further evaluation.
Provide market insights on the supplier landscape, product capabilities, and potential partnership opportunities.
Maintain a structured database of identified manufacturers, key contacts, discussions, and follow-up actions.
Share regular progress updates and recommendations throughout the pilot engagement.
Skills Required
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in supplier development, strategic sourcing, business development, or commercial roles within the polymers, plastics, or specialty chemicals industry.
Strong understanding of polymer compounds, masterbatches, and the Indian manufacturing landscape.
Existing network of small-to-medium manufacturers of polymer compounds and masterbatches in India.
Experience identifying, evaluating, and engaging potential manufacturing or distribution partners.
Ability to connect with senior commercial and technical stakeholders and facilitate business discussions.
Strong networking, communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
Understanding of engineering thermoplastics and related polymer applications would be an advantage.
Prior experience working with specialty chemical distributors, polymer compounders, masterbatch manufacturers, or plastics manufacturers is preferred.
Must be available to undertake a 4–6 week independent consulting engagement in India.
