About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

From Seed to lead.
From @Jaydeep Barman - Founder and Chairman at Rebel Foods
I am looking for an AI native young person to join the Founder’s office at Rebel.
It’s been a year since I stepped down from running Rebel day-to-day. Last July, Ankush became our CEO, and I moved into a “Founder/Chairman” role—whatever that meant.
Under Ankush’s leadership, Team Rebel is hitting it out of the park over the last 12 months. Now I wonder why I did not do it earlier.
Anyway, after a year of “chairmanship”, which basically meant going away to the mountains and hatching all sorts of delusional plans, I decided to do something rather obvious — I set up a Founders' Office at Rebel.
Why am I calling it a Founders' Office? Not because I was the founder/cofounder of Rebel Foods. But because I'm back to founding things, back to walking down some path that has never been trodden before—and my excitement knows no bounds.
I am calling it a Founders' Office also because it's meant to be a place where young, driven people become founders—in attitude and action.
This office is seeding new moonshots for Rebel. If any of them become meaningful, we will double down and scale them. One such moonshot is already underway, led by a small founding team.
This post is about finding someone to seed and eventually lead another idea like this. S/he will own it, lead it, and scale it as the business owner/founder. Buck, as they say, will stop at her/him.
Who should this person be?
• Three demonstrated personal traits: curiosity, problem-solving ability, and drive (to get shit done come hell or high water)
• Must be in their twenties (I think this group of people knows something that I don’t, and I want to know what it is)
• Must have a sense of aesthetics and design sensibility (does not need to be Steve Jobs, but should be able to tell ugly from beautiful, and why)
• Finally, must NOT be from any food-related industry. But should be a total foodie. Eating and passing judgment will be part of the job.
The application, as always, must be written. Just a two-pager outlining:
• Who you are and what shaped you — childhood, hobbies, job, passion, anything
• What events in your life demonstrate the traits — curiosity, problem-solving ability, and drive
• Proof that you have a sense of aesthetics and design sensibility
• What makes you founder material and suitable for this job
Any answer written by AI will be automatically rejected by an AI agent before a human sees it (isn’t that one of the greatest ironies of all time?).
The process will start with a first-round interview, where we will go deep into your answers to the four questions. Really deep.
This will be followed by an assignment/small project and, finally, a culture bar-raiser discussion.
Location: Mumbai/Pune
