In this role, you will oversee commercial real estate, construction, and facilities-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations. You will manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, design reviews, and construction coordination across multiple phases of delivery. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and property management teams, you will ensure clear communication, effective collaboration, and high-quality project outcomes. You will also monitor financial performance, assess project changes, and identify potential risks before they affect delivery. This remote opportunity combines strategic oversight with hands-on project execution in a client-focused environment. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project management professional who enjoys leading teams, solving complex challenges, and delivering measurable results.
Accountabilities
Manage project planning and execution: Develop project agendas, establish master budgets and schedules, and maintain detailed timelines for each project and phase to ensure objectives and client requirements are met.
Monitor project progress: Track milestones, deliverables, costs, and schedules while keeping building management, clients, and relevant stakeholders informed of progress and potential challenges.
Coordinate project documentation: Prepare and organize project reports, review drawings, and coordinate documentation across conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction phases.
Manage consultants and contractors: Support the selection and contracting of consultants and construction teams, coordinate their activities, and monitor performance to ensure projects meet established requirements.
Oversee budgets and financial controls: Review purchase requisitions, change orders, invoices, and other project-related expenses, evaluating their financial implications in collaboration with clients and property management.
Manage changes and escalate risks: Identify issues that may affect project scope, schedules, budgets, or resources, and seek the appropriate management approvals for proposed organizational changes or expenditures beyond approved budgets.
Maintain regulatory compliance: Ensure all project activities comply with applicable laws, building codes, safety regulations, government requirements, and corporate, client, and property policies.
Promote collaboration and quality: Work with building and facilities personnel to achieve project objectives related to service quality, operational efficiency, cost management, and profitability.
Lead and support project teams: Provide direction, coordinate team activities, and contribute to a productive working environment that encourages accountability and effective delivery.
Communicate recommendations: Report significant issues, findings, project results, and improvement opportunities to the appropriate supervisor and management stakeholders.
Support client relationships: Maintain strong client partnerships, respond to evolving project needs, and assist with promoting project management services when required.
Drive continuous improvement: Maintain high standards of work, strengthen technical and professional expertise, and stay informed about industry developments, best practices, and emerging project management approaches.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Project management experience: At least five years of project management experience, including a minimum of five years in a directly related engineering or construction project accountability role.
Supervisory experience: At least three years of experience supervising project teams, particularly in leading, motivating, and developing employees.
Technical expertise: Strong understanding of construction and engineering project lifecycles, including design development, construction coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and project documentation.
Financial management skills: Experience managing project budgets, reviewing invoices and change orders, tracking expenditures, and evaluating the financial impact of project decisions.
Planning and organizational abilities: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects, competing priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, present recommendations, coordinate technical reviews, and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
Leadership and relationship management: Demonstrated ability to guide teams, build productive working relationships, resolve conflicts, and maintain alignment among clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Client-focused mindset: A commitment to understanding client requirements, delivering high-quality service, and balancing customer expectations with project budgets, schedules, and operational objectives.
Technical proficiency: Comfort using project management tools, budgeting systems, scheduling applications, and relevant technical documentation or drawing review software.
Problem-solving and decision-making: Ability to identify risks, assess alternatives, recommend practical solutions, and escalate significant issues when necessary.
Regulatory awareness: Knowledge of applicable construction regulations, building codes, workplace safety requirements, and organizational compliance procedures.
Adaptability and accountability: Ability to work independently in a remote environment, maintain high performance standards, manage changing priorities, and take ownership of project outcomes.
