About The Role
We are seeking an experienced iOS Engineer to join an established engineering team based in Manchester on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and scaling high-impact native iOS features that enhance user experience and functionality. You will work within a fast-paced environment, participating in short development cycles, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready code. Your expertise will contribute to building seamless, efficient, and innovative iOS applications that meet the strategic goals of our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in iOS development, a passion for creating intuitive user interfaces, and the ability to adapt quickly to evolving project requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical skills and professional experience, including:
Several years of professional iOS development experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of native app development.
Proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit interoperability to create dynamic and responsive user interfaces.
Hands-on experience with modern architectural patterns such as MVVM, and familiarity with Xcode development environment.
Experience working with REST and GraphQL APIs, integrating backend-driven UI architectures effectively.
Ability to quickly adapt to large, existing codebases and contribute effectively within a team environment.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and debugging production issues.
Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows such as Claude and Codex is a plus.
Responsibilities
As an iOS Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing native iOS features from technical specifications through to deployment, ensuring high quality and performance.
Implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable code using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit frameworks.
Integrating REST and GraphQL APIs to facilitate seamless communication between the app and backend services.
Collaborating with UI/UX designers and product managers to translate design concepts into functional features.
Writing and maintaining unit tests, performing code reviews, and debugging issues to ensure app stability and reliability.
Monitoring app performance and stability using crash reporting and observability tools to proactively address potential issues.
Participating in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
