About The Role
The Cybersecurity Network Engineer role at Telos offers an exciting opportunity for experienced networking professionals to contribute to national security initiatives. Based in Ashburn, VA, the successful candidate will be responsible for administering and maintaining Cisco networking infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position involves managing network devices, implementing security protocols, and ensuring optimal network performance and security compliance. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, vulnerability management, and customer interaction, providing expert guidance to resolve complex network issues efficiently. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant networking experience. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are required. Proven experience in administering Cisco networking devices within a DoD environment is essential, with in-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and switching technologies. Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Aruba wireless is a plus. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance. Strong troubleshooting skills, knowledge of patch management processes, and experience with security tools like HBSS, ACAS, and eMASS are also required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are critical to success in this role.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include administering and maintaining Cisco networking devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, to ensure high network performance and security. The engineer will implement and optimize Cisco IOS configurations, monitor network health using management tools, and perform routine patching and vulnerability assessments in compliance with DoD guidelines. Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network topologies such as LAN, WAN, and VPN configurations are integral to this role. The engineer will proactively identify and resolve network issues, collaborating with clients to troubleshoot outages and provide timely solutions. Maintaining security standards through vulnerability remediation and patch management is essential. Additionally, the role involves working closely with customers to understand their network needs, providing expert guidance, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The position also requires documenting network configurations, maintaining security compliance, and staying updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and solutions.
