About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead / Architect to join a Qubika squad working directly alongside the team of a US healthcare client. The client runs a live clinical platform of 11 apps, built fast by a very small team.
You'll own the technical solution end to end: architecture, code health, code review and the technical relationship with the client. You'll work with dedicated security, SRE, data/EMR, QA, UX and delivery specialists, and you'll stay hands-on in the codebase the whole time. This is not a rewrite. The job is to change a live clinical system safely, one tested step at a time.
Responsibilities
• Own the Django/React architecture and document key technical decisions across parallel workstreams.
• Lead a baseline test suite on high-traffic and PHI-sensitive paths.
• Refactor high-complexity code into a service layer, improve error logging and upgrade Django from its end-of-life version.
• Prepare the application to run on multiple instances (e.g., shared caching).
• Own the backend architecture and delivery of three new modules.
• Set coding standards, review code and decide what to refactor, defer or leave alone.
• Review security, infrastructure and EMR integration changes so they fit one coherent design.
• Act as the client's technical counterpart: communicate trade-offs and risks clearly and help their engineers adopt new practices.
Must have
• Senior experience leading architecture and delivery on production web platforms.
• Deep hands-on Python and Django, plus solid React.
• A track record of hardening fast-built or founder-originated codebases incrementally while they stay live, including adding tests and structure where there were none.
• Strong refactoring skills on large, high-complexity code, and the judgment to know when a rewrite is the wrong answer.
• Experience building on Azure and designing applications that run reliably across multiple instances.
• Experience as the technical lead of a multidisciplinary team.
• Clear English communication with founders, leadership, and technical and non-technical audiences.
• Secure coding for sensitive data, such as keeping PHI out of logs and building with audit and access requirements in mind.
Nice to have
• US healthcare experience (HIPAA, value-based care).
• EMR integrations (NextGen or similar) and HL7 or FHIR.
• Designing integration layers (gateways, adapters, canonical models).
• LLM integrations in regulated environments.
