Application Support & Testing Specialist (Radio Systems)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Application Support & Testing Specialist (Radio Systems) based in India.
We are seeking a technically minded specialist to support, test, and improve a radio communications application used in a professional telecommunications environment. In this role, you will combine application support, system and integration testing, JavaScript scripting, and defect management to ensure reliable application performance. You will help users resolve technical issues, maintain system rules and models, and contribute to continuous product improvement. Working within a small, established Agile team, you will collaborate with colleagues to identify issues, enhance functionality, and strengthen software quality. This remote contract opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys troubleshooting, communicating with users, and developing their technical skills in radio systems and cloud-based testing.
Accountabilities
Application Support: Provide timely technical assistance to users, investigate application issues, guide users through troubleshooting steps, and deliver application training when needed.
Integration and System Testing: Plan and execute comprehensive integration and system tests in cloud environments to validate application functionality, reliability, and performance.
Defect Tracking and Resolution: Identify, document, track, and manage software defects using Jira, collaborating with the team to investigate issues and verify fixes.
JavaScript Scripting and System Configuration: Develop and maintain Radio Online (ROL) system rules and models using JavaScript, including variables, loops, functions, and related scripting techniques.
Agile Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members in an established Agile environment to refine application functionality, prioritize issues, and support iterative improvements.
Application Quality and Continuous Improvement: Contribute to testing practices, troubleshoot recurring issues, and recommend improvements to application stability, usability, and support processes.
Technical Learning and Development: Participate in advanced JavaScript training and specialized workshops covering ROL testing methods, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
User Communication: Explain technical concepts and troubleshooting procedures clearly, helping users understand solutions and use the application effectively.
Requirements
Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline, together with at least three years of engineering, IT, or technical experience; alternatively, five or more years of relevant engineering, IT, or technical experience.
Application Support: Experience or demonstrated capability in technical troubleshooting, application support, and helping users resolve software-related issues.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Understanding of integration testing and system testing, ideally with experience validating applications in cloud-based environments.
JavaScript Fundamentals: Familiarity with JavaScript or the ability to develop scripting skills involving variables, loops, functions, and system logic.
Defect Management Tools: Ability to document and track defects systematically; experience with Jira is valuable.
Agile Collaboration: Willingness to work within an Agile team, collaborate on application improvements, and contribute to structured development and testing workflows.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical steps in straightforward language and support users with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: A methodical approach to investigating issues, identifying root causes, validating fixes, and improving application reliability.
Preferred Radio Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with digital or analog radio technologies, radio communications systems, or dispatch consoles is an advantage.
