About the Role
Pear Suite is hiring an experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer at either the Senior Software Engineer or Staff Software Engineer level. The position offers an opportunity to shape the architecture and technical direction of the company's platform, working across frontend development, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure.
The level, title, and compensation will be determined through the interview process based on the candidate's experience, technical ownership, and leadership scope. Engineers at both levels contribute to architecture, hands-on development, and technical direction, with Staff-level engineers taking broader ownership of organization-wide systems and complex initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect scalable, reusable software across the frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure.
Develop frontend applications using React and TypeScript, backend services using GraphQL, and cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Lead technical initiatives from initial proposals through implementation and delivery.
Balance hands-on software development with strategic architecture and system design.
Establish technical standards and improve software quality, performance, and maintainability.
Document technical decisions and system designs clearly for engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Test individual components and complete systems thoroughly while promoting software engineering best practices.
Mentor other engineers through formal or informal guidance.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on technical priorities, design choices, and trade-offs.
At the Staff level, own architecture and technical direction for major systems or cross-cutting areas used across the engineering organization, such as data platforms, integrations, or security.
At the Staff level, lead complex initiatives involving multiple engineers with minimal oversight.
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack development.
Deep expertise in React, GraphQL, and TypeScript.
Proven experience designing and maintaining cloud architectures on GCP.
Strong architectural and system-design judgment, with a track record of making decisions that remain effective in production.
Ability to balance hands-on development with strategic design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications for Staff-Level Consideration
At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant ownership of complex, cross-cutting systems.
Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple projects, systems, or teams.
Experience setting technical direction with minimal oversight and owning a system or platform used across the engineering organization.
Experience mentoring engineers at different levels without formal management authority.
Success Measures
Senior Software Engineer: Success is measured by the quality and durability of designed systems, depth of hands-on contributions, and growing influence across teams.
Staff Software Engineer: Success is measured by the scope and impact of owned systems, the quality of technical decisions at the organizational level, and contributions to engineering-wide practices and hiring standards.
Position Details
Work Arrangement: Fully remote
Senior Software Engineer Salary: $120,000–$150,000 base salary
Staff Software Engineer Salary: $150,000–$170,000 base salary

Compensation Disclosure
Pear Suite uses broad salary bands to support pay transparency. Actual offers depend on a candidate's experience, skills, and internal pay equity. Candidates with highly specialized and directly relevant experience may be offered compensation near the top of the range, while most new hires are expected to fall below the maximum to allow for continued progression and growth.
As a fully remote organization, Pear Suite may adjust compensation upward for candidates living in higher-cost labor markets. These geographic adjustments are not reflected in the posted salary ranges.
