Engineering Manager
Accelerate Performance.
About CAI Software
CAI Software builds purpose-built solutions that help manufacturers, processors, and distributors accelerate performance. Our mission is to enable manufacturers to transform performance through a connected, AI-assisted ecosystem that delivers visibility, control, and continuous improvement. We bring the deep operational expertise and enterprise infrastructure to be a true long-term performance partner.
With 6,200+ active customers worldwide and a market-leading position in every vertical we serve, CAI combines 45+ years of industry expertise with modern AI-driven execution - helping businesses move faster, operate smarter, and perform at their peak. We work across 15+ industries and 10+ countries, guided by three values built into our name: Candor, Accountability, and Impact.
CAI Business Units and the Markets We Serve
CAI Software is organized into three business units: Graphic Communications, Process Manufacturing, and Discrete Manufacturing - aligned to the industries we serve. This structure keeps our teams close to customer needs while operating with the scale and support of a global software company.
CAI India
CAI India is a strategic investment in the company’s future. Our Bangalore Center of Excellence is a place of ownership, expertise, and accountability. Teams in India work on global products end to end, contribute to key decisions, and influence how CAI evolves as a business. This is not a support-led model, but rather a center designed to lead through knowledge, responsibility, and trust.
CAI Software is seeking an **Engineering Manager** to join our Discrete Manufacturing business unit in Bangalore. This is a hands-on, full-stack, player-coach role owning engineering for two Microsoft-stack products: MatTrace (formerly Endeavor), our material traceability and shop-floor data collection platform, and LLumin CMMS, our maintenance management product. You will lead the team, serve as senior technical authority for architecture and difficult development issues, write and review code, own critical customer escalations, and drive modernization from .NET Framework 4.8 to current .NET. The role reports to the VP of Engineering.
What You'll Do
Own the architecture of MatTrace and LLumin CMMS; review designs and resolve architectural and cross-service issues (API contracts, authentication, data model, mobile sync, ERP integration)
Lead the .NET modernization roadmap and set engineering standards (layering, DI, code review, CI/CD in Azure DevOps)
Fix the hardest defects, prototype architectural changes, and unblock the team on complex C#, SQL, Angular and React Native problems
Diagnose production issues end to end, from browser or device through Web API and Entity Framework to the database, including query tuning
Act as engineering owner for Severity 1/2 customer escalations: lead triage and root-cause analysis, communicate remediation plans to customers and stakeholders, and partner with Support and Professional Services on hotfix cadence and defect backlogs
Build, mentor and manage a multi-product team of full-stack developers, QA and DevOps engineers; own hiring and performance
Plan and deliver releases across both products with clear reporting to BU leadership
Own test strategy, automation coverage and production readiness (including mobile sync compatibility), and ensure secure SDLC practices
Champion AI-assisted development lifecycle (AI-DLC) practices across specification, code and QA automation
What We're Looking For
10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing engineering teams and 3+ years as an architect or technical lead on enterprise web applications
Strong, current full-stack hands-on skills: C# and .NET (Framework 4.8 and .NET 8+), ASP.NET MVC/Web API, Entity Framework, and SQL Server (schema design, T-SQL, query tuning); able to read, debug and write production code daily
Proficiency in at least one modern front-end technology (Angular, React or React Native), with the ability to review and contribute to TypeScript/JavaScript code
Proven ability to resolve architectural and difficult development issues in large, layered codebases, including .NET Framework to .NET migration or legacy modernization experience
Demonstrated ownership of customer escalations; experience with REST API design, OAuth2/OIDC authentication, background services and enterprise integration patterns (WCF/SOAP, REST, database-level)
Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD experience; effective across US and India time zones
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master's preferred)
Preferred: domain exposure to manufacturing execution, material traceability, barcode data collection, warehouse operations or CMMS/EAM
Preferred: ERP integration experience (IFS, Epicor, Syteline, Dynamics, SAP)
Preferred: familiarity with Oracle, Redis/SignalR, .NET MAUI, multi-tenant SaaS, VB.NET or WPF/WinForms
Preferred: team-scale use of AI coding assistants and AI-driven SDLC/QA automation
What Success Looks Like
Predictable, high-quality delivery against roadmap commitments made with Product Management.
Measurable adoption and impact of AI-led development practices within the team.
A well-documented, well-governed engineering process in ADO, Aha!, and Confluence that stakeholders trust.
An engaged, growing engineering team with clear goals and strong retention.
