Job Description:
As an AS400 Developer, you will participate in the development, maintenance, and optimization of business applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. Your daily tasks will include analyzing functional requirements, writing technical specifications, and developing programs (e.g., in COBOL, CL, SQL) while adhering to best practices for performance and security. You will be responsible for incident tracking, patching, application enhancements, and performing unit and integration testing. You will collaborate with functional and technical teams to ensure the reliability of mainframe systems. This is a contract position (freelance or other contractual form to be defined), performed entirely remotely.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in IBM i/AS400 development, particularly in COBOL, CL, and DB2/SQL, as well as the associated development environment (Business Objects, Business Processes, Queries).
Experience in requirements analysis, writing technical specifications, and participating in testing and validation phases.
Knowledge of performance optimization, security management, and best practices for mainframe development.
Ability to work independently remotely, with strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Computer science degree or equivalent experience, prior experience on life insurance projects, and fluency in written and spoken English.
