About the Assignment
We are supporting a leading international insurance organisation in Zurich with the continued implementation and development of its core reinsurance platform.
For the next phase of the programme, we are looking for an experienced Senior SAP FS-RI Business Analyst / Functional Consultant who combines in-depth reinsurance knowledge with strong end-to-end implementation experience.
The successful consultant will work directly with business stakeholders to understand and structure requirements, translate them into detailed functional specifications and collaborate closely with developers throughout the implementation process.
This position requires more than general process or project experience. We are looking for a hands-on SAP FS-RI product specialist who understands both the business requirements of reinsurance and the capabilities, design and configuration of the SAP FS-RI solution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate business and requirements workshops with reinsurance stakeholders
Gather, analyse and structure complex business requirements
Translate business needs into detailed and implementation-ready functional requirements
Create blueprints, requirements documentation and functional specifications
Develop functional solution designs aligned with business and system requirements
Translate functional specifications into clear requirements for technical development teams
Collaborate closely with developers throughout the implementation lifecycle
Clarify functional questions and support developers during configuration and development
Review implementation results and validate that the delivered solution meets the defined business requirements
Support testing, defect clarification, implementation and delivery activities
Advise stakeholders on the appropriate use of SAP FS-RI standard functionality
Evaluate which requirements should be covered through standard configuration and where customisation is genuinely required
Contribute to the continued development, optimisation and maintenance of the reinsurance solution
Support the broader transformation of reinsurance processes and the target operating model
Required Experience
Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Functional Consultant or Product Consultant within SAP FS-RI environments
Demonstrable end-to-end implementation experience covering:
Business and requirements workshops
Requirements gathering and analysis
Blueprinting and requirements documentation
Functional specifications
Functional solution design
Collaboration with developers
Testing and implementation support
Delivery and post-implementation activities
Strong ability to translate complex reinsurance business requirements into sufficiently detailed functional specifications
Experience working directly with business stakeholders and technical development teams
Deep functional knowledge of SAP FS-RI and its standard capabilities
Strong understanding of reinsurance processes, terminology and operating models
Ability to work autonomously within a complex international programme environment
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and workshop facilitation skills
Structured, analytical and delivery-oriented working style
SAP FS-RI Expertise
Candidates should have strong functional knowledge across relevant SAP FS-RI areas, including:
Treaty setup and administration
Loss calculation
Reinsurance accounting
SAP FS-RI product design and configuration
Risk Manager
FS-RI basis and underlying data model
Company code setup and mapping
Account types, including original and treaty accounts
Attachment points and individual-loss liability
Partner functions, including:
Account recipients
Payment partners
Loss recipients
Loss module functionality and system integration
Unearned Premium Reserve calculation methods, including:
1/8 method
1/24 method
Portfolio-level calculation approaches
Approaches where calculations are not performed at individual-policy level
