ReBrand Gurus is a boutique creative technology agency working with businesses across website development, mobile applications, digital marketing, SEO and other digital solutions.
We manage multiple client websites and digital platforms, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Server & Infrastructure Security Administrator to take ownership of our hosting environments, server infrastructure, website security, and technical troubleshooting.
About the Role
We are looking for a technically strong professional who can keep our web infrastructure secure, stable, monitored, and recoverable.
This is not a regular WordPress developer or basic Server Administrator role. We need someone who understands server-level security, can investigate complex technical problems, and knows how to protect multiple websites from vulnerabilities, malware, server failures, and unauthorized access.
The ideal candidate will take responsibility for identifying potential risks, preventing avoidable downtime, investigating security incidents, and restoring services safely when unexpected problems occur.
Your primary responsibility will be to protect ReBrand Gurus' web infrastructure and ensure that our websites remain secure, stable, and recoverable.
Key Responsibilities1. Linux Server and Hosting Management
Manage and maintain Linux servers, VPS environments, and website hosting platforms such as Hostinger, hPanel, cPanel, and similar services.
Monitor server health, CPU/RAM usage, disk space, uptime, resource consumption, and website performance.
Investigate and resolve server-level problems affecting one or multiple websites.
Manage PHP versions, MySQL/MariaDB databases, cron jobs, file permissions, and server configurations.
Work confidently with SSH and the Linux command line for server administration and troubleshooting.
Perform routine server maintenance, software updates, security patches, and configuration reviews.
Handle website migrations, hosting migrations, and server configuration changes safely.
Identify infrastructure weaknesses and recommend improvements to server stability and security.
2. Website and WordPress Administration
Manage and troubleshoot multiple WordPress websites hosted across different environments.
Diagnose plugin, theme, PHP, database, and compatibility issues.
Resolve website downtime, HTTP 500/502/503 errors, database connection failures, and other server-related website problems.
Perform WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates safely.
Troubleshoot WooCommerce websites and related technical issues.
Maintain staging and production environments.
Investigate website performance issues and implement appropriate solutions.
Work with developers to resolve application-level problems when required.
3. Server Security and Malware Prevention
This is one of the most important responsibilities of the role.
Monitor websites and servers for malware, suspicious activity, unauthorized access, and security vulnerabilities.
Investigate malware infections, compromised websites, suspicious PHP files, malicious scripts, and hidden backdoors.
Identify possible entry points and determine how a security compromise occurred.
Investigate compromised administrator accounts, vulnerable plugins, outdated software, and insecure server configurations.
Implement server hardening, firewall rules, access controls, security patches, and other appropriate protective measures.
Configure and manage Cloudflare security features, WAF, and other relevant security tools.
Review server and website logs to identify suspicious activity and potential threats.
Check related websites and accounts when a shared server or hosting environment may have been compromised.
Verify that security incidents have been properly resolved and monitor for signs of reinfection.
Maintain practical security procedures to reduce the risk of future incidents.
Important: Removing infected files alone is not sufficient to resolve every malware incident. The candidate must understand how to investigate the original entry point, identify possible backdoors, assess the wider hosting environment, and prevent the same vulnerability from being exploited again.
4. Backup and Disaster Recovery
Configure and maintain automated website, database, and server backups.
Maintain appropriate backup retention and access controls.
Ensure backups are stored securely and independently of the primary environment wherever practical.
Regularly verify backup integrity and test website and database restoration.
Develop and maintain recovery procedures for server failures, malware incidents, accidental deletions, and data loss.
Restore affected websites and services from trusted backups when required.
Identify recovery risks and recommend measures to minimize downtime and data loss.
The goal is to ensure that a website or server failure does not automatically require rebuilding websites from scratch.
5. Domains, DNS, SSL, and Cloudflare
Manage domain configurations, nameservers, DNS records, and domain transfers.
Troubleshoot A records, CNAME, MX, and TXT records.
Configure and troubleshoot SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.
Manage SSL certificates, HTTPS configuration, and renewals.
Resolve DNS propagation, incorrect domain pointing, and website connectivity issues.
Manage Cloudflare DNS, CDN settings, and security configurations.
Monitor domain, hosting, and SSL expiry dates to prevent avoidable service disruptions.
6. Business Email Administration
Manage and troubleshoot business email services, including:
Google Workspace
Microsoft 365
Hostinger Email
Zoho Mail
SMTP configurations
The candidate should be able to diagnose and resolve:
Emails not being sent or received.
Emails bouncing or being delivered to spam.
Incorrect MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configurations.
SMTP authentication and connection failures.
Domain-related email delivery issues.
Email account configuration and security problems.
7. Shopify and Third-Party Integrations
Troubleshoot Shopify stores, themes, apps, and integrations.
Manage domain connections and DNS configurations.
Investigate website connectivity, email, and third-party integration issues.
Coordinate with developers or platform support when specialized assistance is required.
8. Proactive Monitoring and Technical Maintenance
Set up and maintain website uptime, server performance, and security monitoring.
Configure alerts for downtime, unusual resource consumption, suspicious activity, and backup failures.
Identify potential issues before they develop into major disruptions.
Conduct routine reviews of server configurations, access permissions, software updates, and security settings.
Maintain documentation of servers, hosting accounts, websites, domains, and technical configurations.
Document incidents, root causes, resolutions, and preventive measures.
Recommend practical improvements to infrastructure security, reliability, and performance.
