Role Description
The Software Engineer - Backend (Contract, Remote) will design, build, and maintain backend services that power DataconneX’s agentic platform, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing APIs and microservices, integrating with data sources and external systems, and optimizing data processing pipelines to support marketing analytics and AI agents.
The engineer will collaborate with product, data, and frontend teams to translate requirements into robust backend solutions, write clean, testable code, and participate in code reviews to uphold high engineering standards. The role also involves troubleshooting production issues, improving system observability, and contributing to architectural decisions that enhance security, maintainability, and long-term scalability.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge of computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
Experience in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with a focus on building APIs, services, and data-driven applications.
Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), using at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Go, Node.js).
Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), API design (REST or GraphQL), and integration with third-party or internal data sources.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD practices.
Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills, with a disciplined approach to code quality and maintainability.
Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in data, analytics, or marketing technology is a plus.
