Company Overview
My client is a Africa-based logistics and trading company supplying fertilizers, mining and industrial chemicals, and water-treatment products across Zambia, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and Namibia. The company is supported by a back-office team in Goregaon East, Mumbai.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will initially work from the Goregaon East back office, lead a small accounting team, and progressively assume broader financial leadership responsibilities. Within the first year, the candidate will relocate to Zambia on bachelor expatriate status and operate as FC, with responsibility for the company’s finance and accounting function across its African operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash-flow management, and financial controls for the business.
· Manage and develop the Goregaon East accounting team during the transition period.
· Coordinate effectively with banks, customers, vendors, employees, and other stakeholders across African markets.
· Support commercial and operational decisions through sound financial analysis and strong business acumen.
· Ensure compliance with applicable VAT and other local finance and tax requirements across the company’s African operations.
· Strengthen systems, processes, reporting discipline, and management information as the business grows.
· Budgeting and liaising with Banks for Fund raising
Candidate Profile
· Qualified Chartered Accountant with 5–10 years of post-qualification experience.
· Strong accounting and finance experience, with the capacity to grow into or perform a CFO-level role.
· Experience in Zambia or elsewhere in Africa will be a significant advantage.
· Strong commercial judgement, leadership ability, and stakeholder-management skills.
· Excellent written and spoken English communication.
· Preferably a current resident of Mumbai, near Goregaon East.
· Preferably under 35
Technical Skills
· Advanced proficiency in Tally Cloud.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
· Practical understanding of VAT-based accounting and compliance in African markets; India GST, Tax, TDS etc experience is NOT central to this role.
Employment Details
· Initial location: Goregaon East, Mumbai; approximately a five-minute walk from Goregaon East station.
· India work schedule: 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., six days per week.
· Relocation: Zambia within the first year, on bachelor expatriate status.
· Compensation: From INR 12 lakh per annum, depending on current salary, experience and suitability.
· Joining: Candidates available to join at short notice will be highly preferred.
