About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Our client is a technology-oriented company developing advanced electronic imaging and machine vision solutions for demanding industrial and high-performance applications. The organization specializes in the design and development of sophisticated electronic systems, integrating high-speed digital electronics, imaging sensors, and complex hardware architectures to deliver reliable, high-performance vision technologies.
Its activities rely on close collaboration between multidisciplinary hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams, with a strong focus on technical innovation, engineering excellence, and product reliability. The company offers an advanced yet collaborative engineering environment where professionals can take meaningful ownership of technological developments, contribute to international projects, and progress through technical specialization or broader engineering responsibilities.
Mission
The Hardware / PCB Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, bringing up, and validating electronic hardware and multilayer PCBs for high-performance machine vision applications. The role involves contributing to the complete hardware development lifecycle, from schematic capture and PCB layout through prototype debugging, validation, and system integration. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, the successful candidate will help develop reliable electronic platforms for imaging sensors, industrial cameras, and advanced vision systems.
Responsibilities
PCB Design and Hardware Development
Design and develop multilayer PCBs, including schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout for advanced electronic vision systems.
Develop electronic boards for imaging sensor test platforms, industrial cameras, and evaluation kits.
Contribute to hardware architecture and PCB design for complete machine vision systems across internal development and customer-specific projects.
Hardware Bring-Up, Testing, and Validation
Perform PCB bring-up, functional testing, and hardware debugging using electronic laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
Identify and resolve hardware issues during prototype development, testing, and system integration.
Support hardware verification and validation activities to ensure electronic performance, reliability, and compliance with design requirements.
High-Speed Electronics and Design Optimization
Apply signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC considerations to the design of complex multilayer PCBs.
Support the integration of high-speed communication interfaces, memory architectures, and FPGA-based electronic systems.
Apply SPICE simulation techniques and DFM/DFA principles to improve circuit performance, manufacturability, and assembly reliability.
System Integration and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with firmware and software engineering teams to ensure effective integration of hardware into complete vision systems.
Coordinate technical design activities with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Depending on experience, assume end-to-end responsibility for hardware/PCB design or contribute as a specialist within larger development projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering with an electronics specialization, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrable experience designing multilayer PCBs, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
Hands-on experience in PCB bring-up, testing, and debugging using electronic laboratory instrumentation.
Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Experience using professional electronic design automation tools, such as Allegro Capture CIS and Allegro PCB Editor, or equivalent platforms.
Understanding of SPICE simulation techniques and signal and power integrity principles.
Knowledge of at least one of the following disciplines: Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, or EMI/EMC.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
High level of written and spoken English.
Preferred Experience
Experience developing electronic hardware for machine vision, industrial imaging, or advanced camera systems.
Familiarity with high-speed machine vision communication interfaces, including GigE, USB 2.0/3.0, Camera Link, and CoaXPress.
Knowledge of system-level memory interfaces, including DDR3, DDR4, SDRAM, and Flash memory.
Experience designing PCBs incorporating FPGAs, particularly Intel/Altera or AMD/Xilinx architectures.
