Position Details
Location: Kennett Square, PA (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM (weekday night shift)
Position Overview
The Energy Operations Center Analyst provides weekday night shift coverage for a 24x7 operations center that monitors and controls customer energy assets — generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, energy management systems, and meters — across thousands of customer sites. This role keeps customer assets available and performing, maximizes market and program revenue, and delivers high customer satisfaction through accurate, SOP-driven execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct shift turnover by reviewing open alarms, scheduled events, and prior-shift notes, and hand off to the day and mid shifts with complete, clear documentation.
• Continuously monitor asset status and regional electricity market conditions in real time (PJM, ISO-NE, ERCOT, MISO, IESO, NYISO, CAISO).
• Remotely schedule, start/stop, and dispatch assets during peak, market-program, and weather events in accordance with client SOPs/MOPs.
• Acknowledge and respond to asset alarms; triage and troubleshoot hardware, software, and communications issues through testing, analysis, and failure review.
• Dispatch service technicians and follow up by phone and email with customers, dealers, partners, and market operators through resolution.
• Manage support cases and escalations, prioritizing requests according to service-level agreements, supporting Tier 1 agents, and escalating to the Energy Operations Center Manager as needed.
• Support customer onboarding by configuring new sites and meters in the monitoring software.
• Run and distribute internal and external reports, such as late and non-reporting meter reports, and log all activity in the shift record.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by creating and updating knowledge articles, supporting business-rule maintenance, and validating process maps.
Work Environment & Team
This position works in an onsite operations center/control room and reports to the Energy Operations Center Manager as part of a team of operators and analysts on fixed shifts providing 24x7 coverage. The environment is fast-paced, with high-pressure periods during events, and requires independent judgment while following established procedures.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma.
• 0 – 2 years of experience in energy/utility operations, NOC/control room, power dispatch, SCADA operations, demand response, or 24x7 technical support (energy, utility, or operations-center internships will be considered).
• Ability to monitor and troubleshoot electrical assets and monitoring systems in real time.
• Clear, professional phone and email communication under pressure.
• Disciplined execution of SOPs/MOPs with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to quickly learn and retain monitoring/energy management software and multiple electric market rules.
• Strong customer focus and problem-solving skills, with the ability to shift priorities in real time.
• Ability to work independently on the night shift while operating as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy, or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with ISO/RTO wholesale markets and utilities (e.g., FirstEnergy, Eversource).
• Working knowledge of distributed energy equipment and SCADA/remote monitoring systems.
• Experience with telematics or remote asset monitoring platforms.
• Relationship management skills with customers, vendors, and peers.
