RedWire Defense Tech is seeking an experienced Lead of Prototyping to lead and further develop the company’s prototyping capabilities for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), managing the prototyping team, improving manufacturing and prototyping processes, and collaborating closely with R&D, (NPI) engineering, and flight operations teams to deliver high-quality prototypes and R&D assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the prototyping department and oversee daily operations
Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of technicians, including CNC machining, composites, and mechanical assembly
Improve and optimize production and prototyping technologies and processes
Ensure sustainable operation of the department, including:
maintenance of machinery and equipment
management of spare parts, materials, and consumables
Participate in product development with a focus on manufacturability and usability
Develop and expand prototyping capabilities and workflows
Manage departmental assets, including R&D aircraft and equipment
Support and perform testing, validation, and investigative activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Electrical, or related field)
Experience in aerospace, defense, or UAS industries is preferred
