About the Opportunity:
The LOSS MITIGATION UNDERWRITER I is responsible for underwriting loan modification applications according to Treasury, company, and investor guidelines. This entry-level role performs underwriting on less complex files while gaining experience, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements. The position contributes to the organization by making sound underwriting decisions that support loan workout eligibility and proper documentation.
Responsibilities:
Analyze loan quality and compliance with guidelines
Conduct Verification of Income (VOI)
Calculate front and back-end debt-to-income ratios
Verify occupancy, hardship, and income
Apply payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility
Identify borrower liquid assets if applicable
Determine and communicate documentation conditions
Complete system tasks to maintain compliance
Document final decisions and update records
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
1 to 2 years of underwriting loss mitigation experience
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Target pay range is $23.00 to $26.00 per hour
