A Category Manager Team Lead is a person who is responsible in building and maintaining strong, long-lasting supplier relationships based on trust and respect. The Category Manager Team Lead has to clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to upper management.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Category Managers to achieve category sales, margin, and growth targets.
Oversee the performance of multiple categories and ensure alignment with overall company strategy.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting supplier relationships based on trust and mutual growth.
Support the team in negotiating contracts and closing agreements to maximize profit and visibility.
Analyze category data and insights to identify trends, opportunities, and improvement areas.
Approve new listings, pricing, and promotional plans across categories.
Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
Identify process gaps and propose solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
Act as the main point of contact between the commercial team and senior management for category updates and strategy alignment.
Requirements
Proven work experience as a Category Manager Team Lead, Senior Category Manager, or similar leadership role.
FMCG retail experience is a must; e-commerce retail experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of commercial and supply chain operations.
Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; proficiency in Tableau is a plus.
BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a relevant field.
