The Orderly at Bayview Hospital plays a vital role in supporting the patient care team by assisting patients with mobility and daily care needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity throughout their stay.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, feeding, hygiene, and general daily care
Safely transport patients within the hospital, including pre- and post-operative movement
Maintain cleanliness by changing linens and cleaning/sterilizing equipment and patient areas
Support the Operating Theatre with patient handling, equipment movement, and cleaning procedures
Transport specimens, blood products, meals, and supplies throughout the hospital
Monitor and manage oxygen cylinders and assist with basic equipment checks
Collect and dispose of clinical waste in accordance with safety procedures
Restock medical supplies and assist with general ward and theatre support tasks
Report equipment issues and ensure safe handling of hospital resources
Carry out any additional duties as required within the role scope
Key Skills & Requirements:
Minimum of to CXC subjects
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
Computer proficiency
Ability to clean, sanitize, and safely dispose of biological waste
Strong patient-handling skills with focus on safety and comfort
Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and professional attitude
Team oriented
