About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
This is a short-term, project-based role. Legacy Paws Rescue is looking for an operations consultant to organize how our rescue runs behind the scenes, then hand it off to our team. We're building a different kind of rescue, focused on prevention, education, and supporting both ends of the leash. Right now too much of how things get done lives in our Executive Director's head and phone. Our team is growing, and people need clear systems to step into. You'd be building the structure that lets this rescue run on teamwork instead of one person holding it all.
Roles and responsibilities map. Who owns what across our team and board, so nothing lands on one person by default. 2. SOP template and two example SOPs. A simple SOP template, two example SOPs drafted with our Executive Director, and an easy process our team can use to document other tasks on our own. 3. Shared drive structure and naming rules. A clean, logical Google Drive structure with naming rules, designed by you. Our team will handle moving the files. 4. Team onboarding checklist. A repeatable process for bringing in new volunteers and board members. What "done" looks like All four pieces built, handed off, and walked through with our team. Simple enough for a volunteer to follow without a training manual. Timeline: 6 to 8 weeks Tools we use: Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and Zeffy. Who we're looking for Someone experienced in nonprofit or small business operations who loves turning chaos into clear, usable systems and explains things patiently. If you believe good systems free people up to do the work that matters most, we'd love to build something meaningful with you.
LEGACY PAWS RESCUE Mission: At Legacy Paws, our mission is to create a community of kindness through education, prevention, and rescue. We believe the best way to change the lives of dogs is not only to rescue them when they are in crisis, but to help prevent that crisis whenever possible. We educate people about how dogs think, communicate, learn, and experience the world, while providing practical support and resources to help people and dogs succeed together. When rescue is needed, we step in for the dogs who have nowhere else to turn—especially those who are overlooked because of age, medical needs, trauma, or circumstances beyond their control. Everything we do comes back to one belief: Healing and learning happens on both ends of the leash. Rescue isn’t where we end. It’s where we begin.
