About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Job Title: Content/Editorial Manager
Location: Bangalore, India (Remote, requiring two in-person meetings per week at our local office park)
Compensation: Base salary plus up to 100% performance bonus and generous benefit package
Company Setup: Our sites are focused on business, and we are also a data provider
About the Role
Reports directly to the COO, who is also Country Manager for India.
We have a highly automated news organization, with heavy focus on business. We believe investors care about more than business news, so we do too. We value your experience with more than business news.
This is a high impact role. You will guide our data team and our news team. You will operate as a player-coach, fine-tuning the automation that governs assignments. You will guide the multi-channel distribution of our data, as well as actually writing flagship articles to demonstrate to our editors how to maximize the value of our vast databases, for our young readers
Structural Authority & Control Points
Automated Pipeline Configuration: You will fine-tune the filter algorithms that govern automatic daily assignments, ensuring the filing-to-news pipeline routes accurately to our data and news teams.
Multi-Channel Output Authority: Govern both narrative news content and structural data feeds as parallel products. You control the final output quality across all our websites, as well as the accuracy of the outgoing Business-to-Developer (B2D) feeds.
Data-to-Narrative Translation: Establish the structural standards for how database summaries are converted into readable news. You are accountable for the factual alignment between raw SEC/SEBI filings, parsed Golden Database entries, and final published articles.
Flagship Content Execution (Player-Coach): Synthesize daily, high-volume output of the News Team into high-impact, blockbuster articles. You will serve as the primary author for these tier-one pieces to establish concrete editorial benchmarks and lead the newsroom by example.
Qualifications: Expertise vs. Degrees
We hire for intellectual agility and execution, not just pedigree. Because this is a true hybrid role blending editorial mastery with active data interrogation, the baseline requirements are as follows:
The Formal Buckets (Degrees) for this hybrid role: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven Synthesis: A portfolio demonstrating your ability to take dense, high-volume data and forge it into sharp, compelling flagship business journalism.
Editorial Authority: Experience managing output quality across distinct digital brands and B2B or B2D data feeds is a definite plus.
The Reality (Expertise & Smarts):
Economic Intuition: You must possess the economic literacy to understand financial metrics and financial anomalies, and why specific factors matter to our target market of young professionals.
Practical SQL & System Logic: While you certainly do not need to be a software engineer, you must be comfortable working with our SQL team and using queries. You need these queries to work with the data team, actively interrogate our databases to spot content trends, measure the real-time performance of published articles, and gather the data necessary to effectively mentor the editors on our data and news teams.
Work Environment & Application
This is a predominantly remote role.
It is based in Bangalore, to maintain tight alignment with the C-suite and cross-functional teams. You are required to attend two in-person strategic meetings per week at our office park, as well as attending several conference calls each week that include US players.
