About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

As an Electrical Diagnostics Engineer, you will carry out specialist electrical testing and diagnostic work on Siemens Energy generators at customer sites across the UK and overseas. Working from a home-based location, you will travel to planned outages and respond to breakdown situations, helping customers understand the condition, performance and risks associated with their generating equipment.
You will work closely with customers, site teams, Siemens Energy engineering colleagues and subcontractors to plan and deliver testing activities safely and effectively. Your findings will support decisions on maintenance, repair and future generator reliability.
This is a hands-on field service role with a strong technical focus. You will combine high voltage and low voltage testing with detailed analysis, reporting and customer discussions, while managing changing priorities during outage and site-based work.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Perform electrical diagnostic testing, including high voltage and low voltage testing, on Siemens Energy generators at customer sites in the UK and overseas.
Support planned outages and breakdown investigations, conducting fact-finding activities to identify technical issues, risks and suitable mitigations.
Develop and apply testing protocols and procedures in line with industry standards, agreed work scopes and customer specifications.
Analyse test results, produce clear technical reports and recommendations, and ensure reports are approved and issued through the appropriate systems.
Discuss test and inspection findings with engineering teams, customers and other stakeholders, providing technical advice on generation machines.
Manage technical work packages, emergent work and competing priorities while following Siemens Energy quality, continuous improvement and health, safety and environmental processes.
What You Bring
An HNC/HND in an engineering discipline, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
Practical experience of electrical diagnostic testing on generators, ideally with around five years of relevant technical experience.
Strong knowledge of both hydrogen-cooled and air-cooled generators.
Experience interpreting test data and producing detailed technical reports using relevant analysis and reporting tools.
The ability to work independently at customer sites while collaborating effectively with engineering teams, customers and subcontractors.
Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with flexibility to travel extensively in the UK and overseas.
