Role: B2B contract only
Location: Fully remote from Europe
IdealStaffs Consulting is looking for an experienced Service Orchestration & Network Automation Engineer to support a client’s ongoing enterprise automation operations. This is a production-focused engineering role centred on developing, maintaining and improving reliable orchestration workflows across network infrastructure, Linux and Windows systems.
You will work alongside infrastructure, network and IT service management teams to reduce repetitive work, accelerate diagnosis and remediation, and expand the organisation’s automation capabilities. Exposure to AI-driven automation is particularly welcome.
What you will do
• Design, build and maintain enterprise service orchestration workflows, including production support and continuous improvement.
• Automate network operations across switches, routers, firewalls and associated management platforms.
• Create automated connectivity checks, configuration validation, monitoring, incident diagnostics and remediation routines.
• Develop reusable PowerShell, Python and Bash scripts for cross-platform automation across Linux and Windows.
• Integrate monitoring, ITSM and orchestration platforms using REST/SOAP APIs, SSH, SNMP and relevant device CLI interfaces.
• Troubleshoot failed automations and strengthen logging, error handling, security, reliability and change controls.
• Collaborate with technical teams to discover valuable automation use cases and document solutions and runbooks.
• Contribute to AI-assisted diagnostics, event analysis and intelligent remediation initiatives where appropriate.
CANDIDATE PROFILE / TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience & capabilities
Essential experience
• Several years of hands-on infrastructure automation or service orchestration in enterprise environments.
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python and/or Bash, with experience building maintainable automation.
• Practical experience with enterprise orchestration platforms, such as Resolve Systems or comparable solutions.
• Strong network fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS and systematic troubleshooting.
• Direct experience automating network devices and tasks through SSH, SNMP, APIs and/or device CLI.
• Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including shell, services, permissions, networking and log analysis.
• Experience automating tasks across Linux environments and integrating Windows/Linux systems.
• Experience with REST and/or SOAP integrations and infrastructure management systems.
• A sound understanding of IT operations, incident management, production reliability and secure automation.
Desirable expertise
• Stonebranch orchestration (strong advantage): experience with Stonebranch Universal Automation Center or comparable enterprise orchestration and automation platforms (e.g., Resolve Systems, Rundeck or Ansible Automation Platform).
• SolarWinds monitoring (strong advantage): experience with infrastructure and network monitoring, alert management, device health, and monitoring-event integrations with orchestration workflows.
• ServiceNow automation (nice to have): experience with Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, ITSM workflows, incident automation and REST API integrations.
• AI-driven automation: hands-on exposure to LLM integrations, AI agents, AIOps, intelligent diagnostics or agent-assisted remediation.
• Network vendors: Cisco, Aruba or other enterprise switching, routing and firewall technologies.
• Automation ecosystem: Ansible, Terraform, Git and CI/CD for reliable automation delivery.
• Cloud exposure: Azure, AWS and/or GCP; secure credential management and approval-based execution.
Who will thrive in this role
A hands-on automation engineer with strong networking expertise and confidence working in Linux environments. You enjoy understanding operational problems, designing sensible solutions and owning workflows through deployment and day-to-day support. Curiosity about AI-assisted operations is a strong advantage, but practical infrastructure automation experience remains the priority.
