About the Department
Gain valuable inpatient experience on our 29-bed, fast-paced post-surgical unit. Nursing students are exposed to orthopedic, spine, general surgery, gynecologic, and medical patients while learning alongside a team of both new and seasoned nursing professionals.
Role Overview
As a Nurse Extern, you'll play a vital role in providing patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your contributions will directly support patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This role is essential in assisting the nursing team, responding to emergent situations, and ensuring high-quality care while advancing your nursing education.

What You Will Do
Perform specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs under RN supervision.
Provide input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care.
Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
Participate in continuing education to enhance your nursing skills and knowledge.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent OR currently enrolled in the Henry Ford Health Early College Program with completion of two clinical rotations.
Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing with completion of two clinical rotations, including one in Med/Surg (acute care setting).
Current Health Care Provider Certification.
