Position Summary
The Infra Electrical Projects Team is seeking an Electrical Projects Engineering Lead to serve as the front-line leader and technical representative for our critical electrical infrastructure. In this leadership capacity, you will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of CAPEX roadmaps, overseeing high-impact end-of-life retrofits and capacity expansion projects essential to the 24x7x365 reliability of our semiconductor fabrication facilities.
As the Team Representative, you will bridge the gap between executive planning and technical execution, ensuring that power distribution systems are scalable, safe, and resilient. You will provide technical mentorship to engineers and manage the delivery of world-class manufacturing infrastructure.
Role and Responsibilities
Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:
People Leadership & Talent Development
Team Management: Provide direct supervision and guidance to a team of electrical project engineers, managing workload distribution to ensure balanced resource allocation across multiple projects.
Mentorship & Coaching: Act as a technical mentor to junior and mid-level engineers, conducting regular 1-on-1s to provide feedback, coach them through technical hurdles, and support their professional growth.
Performance Management: Establish clear KPIs and performance goals for team members; conduct annual performance reviews and drive accountability for deliverables.
Technical Upskilling: Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training plans or certification paths (e.g., PE licensure, PMP) to elevate the team's overall technical capability.
Culture & Safety Leadership: Promote a "Safety First" culture, ensuring all team members adhere to strict safety protocols and promoting a psychological safe environment for reporting risks or errors.
Technical Leadership & Governance
Strategic Oversight: Lead the technical direction for the design, code compliance, and safety validation of power distribution systems to ensure peak equipment performance and system reliability.
Safety Authority: Serve as the primary lead for Arc-Flash analysis and site-wide compliance, ensuring all studies align with the latest regulatory standards to guarantee personnel safety.
Specification Ownership: Establish, review, and approve site-wide electrical specifications for medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) distribution equipment, setting the standard for all future installations.
Standards Advocacy: Drive the application of industry standards (e.g., SEMI F47 for voltage sag ride-through) to maximize facility uptime and operational stability.
Team Project & Portfolio Management
Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design and feasibility reporting to final delivery—ensuring all Capital Investment Projects (CIP) and R&M initiatives are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget.
Design Approval: Author and finalize Feasibility Reports and Conceptual Designs, providing the technical justification for major capital expenditures.
Execution Leadership: Lead the engineering transition from pre-construction through construction and final turnover to Operations, ensuring a seamless hand-off.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
External Team Management: Manage and hold accountable external consultant design teams, general contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring deliverables meet Samsung’s rigorous quality and safety standards.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as the primary electrical representative in collaborations with Project Managers, field technicians, and diverse stakeholders to resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
QA/QC Leadership: Finalize QA/QC reviews on all engineering deliverables and vendor proposals to mitigate technical risk.
Sustainability & Compliance
Audit Leadership: Lead the department's participation in internal and external ISO 50001 audits.
Strategic Energy Goals: Drive corporate sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives through innovative electrical engineering solutions.
Skills and Qualifications
Here's What You'll Need:
Education & Certification
Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Licensure: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas is highly preferred (or a PE in another state with the ability to transfer).
Certification: PMP certification is a significant plus.
Technical Expertise
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of electrical design and project experience in an industrial setting, with a proven track record of leading complex projects.
Power Systems: Expert knowledge of MV/LV (15kV–208V) equipment, including power system fault/coordination studies, protection schemes, and protective relays.
Equipment Mastery: Deep experience in the design, sizing, and operation of MCCs, ATS, STS, Transformers, Emergency Generators, and UPS systems.
Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in Electric Motors, VFD/AFD, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS).
Regulatory Mastery: Expert proficiency with IBC, IFC, NFPA, and other regulatory codes applicable to industrial power distribution.
Software: Advanced proficiency with electrical modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM).
Leadership Competencies
Project Stewardship: Proven experience managing the full design-to-construction pipeline for large-scale industrial projects.
