Serving Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and enterprise organizations across the United States and Canada, Cynet delivers talent solutions in IT, engineering, life sciences, clinical, and professional staffing. The company is a nationally and locally certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 Type II certifications.
About The Role
Cynet Systems is seeking a Senior AWS Engineer to extend and support an event-driven, serverless financial platform. The platform combines Python-based AWS Glue ETL pipelines with Node.js Lambda microservices to process transaction files and related financial data. In this role, you will build independently deployable services, maintain data workflows, and strengthen the reliability, security, and observability of systems where accuracy and auditability are essential. You will collaborate across engineering and delivery teams to define service contracts and deliver maintainable solutions. Pay range: $55.00–$60.00 per hour.
Qualifications
Required experience includes strong proficiency in Python 3.12 or later and Node.js using a current LTS runtime, ES6+, and async/await. Candidates should have hands-on experience developing AWS Lambda services in Python and Node.js, designing loosely coupled microservices, and implementing event contracts, idempotency, and independent deployments. Experience with AWS Glue 4.0, PySpark, DynamicFrames, Step Functions and Amazon States Language, SAM or CloudFormation, and multi-environment deployments is expected.
Additional qualifications include complex Oracle SQL and transactional schemas; DynamoDB key design, GSIs, conditional writes, and pagination; and S3 event-driven architectures and data lake patterns such as Parquet. You should have a strong testing discipline using pytest or unittest, Jest or Mocha, and AWS service mocks such as moto or aws-sdk-client-mock. Experience testing Glue or Spark code offline, supporting Jenkins CI/CD, and building CloudWatch and Grafana dashboards is valuable. Familiarity with financial data, security reviews, least-privilege IAM, KMS encryption, and dependency vulnerability management is important.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain single-purpose Lambda microservices for transaction file intake, validation, transformation, submission, and acknowledgement. Develop Node.js services triggered by S3 notifications, EventBridge, SQS, and API Gateway, using AWS SDK for JavaScript v3 where appropriate to integrate with S3, DynamoDB, SNS/SES, Secrets Manager, and Step Functions. Define clear service boundaries, payload schemas, and file formats that support independent development and deployment. Manage dependencies and Lambda layers, and tune packaging, memory, timeouts, and cold starts.
Maintain Python AWS Glue ETL jobs that use PySpark and Oracle JDBC to ingest, transform, and reconcile transaction history and position snapshots. Build and troubleshoot Step Functions workflows for validation, ingestion, reconciliation, and alerting. Develop Lambda orchestration, validation, DynamoDB write, and notification functions, and optimize Oracle SQL. Maintain DynamoDB models for transaction history, reconciliation status, and fund summaries, including GSIs and TTL retention.
Protect data integrity with robust error handling, per-record commit or rollback, duplicate detection, retries, dead-letter queues, and idempotency keys. Own unit, integration, and smoke tests; improve coverage; and support Jenkins and SAM/CloudFormation pipelines for building, testing, linting, packaging, and environment promotion. Maintain structured CloudWatch logs and metrics, Grafana dashboards, and operational documentation. Participate in security reviews and remediate findings, including SQL injection risks and vulnerable Node.js dependencies.
Benefits
Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; a Health Savings Account; short- and long-term disability insurance; life and AD&D insurance; supplemental insurance; identity theft protection; pet insurance; wellness programs; an Employee Assistance Program; and career development opportunities. Paid sick leave is provided where required by applicable law. Eligibility, accrual, and usage may vary by employment status, length of service, and work location. Cynet Systems Inc. may modify or terminate benefit plans in accordance with applicable law.
