About The Role
As an AI Research Engineer, you will help turn research ideas into reliable experiments, systems, and tools that advance the development of capable and useful AI. You will collaborate with researchers, engineers, and other specialists to investigate technical questions, build infrastructure, analyze results, and improve the quality and efficiency of research workflows. The role combines software engineering with scientific exploration: you will work with complex datasets and models, develop reproducible approaches, and use evidence to guide decisions. You should be comfortable working through ambiguity, communicating what you learn, and adapting as project priorities evolve. This position is suited to someone who enjoys rigorous technical work and wants to contribute to research with broad real-world implications.
Qualifications
You have a bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, machine learning, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. You bring strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and experience building, testing, and maintaining production-quality software. You understand core concepts in machine learning and are familiar with training, evaluating, or deploying modern models. Experience with deep learning frameworks, distributed computing, data pipelines, or large-scale experimentation is valuable. You can break complex problems into tractable steps, assess results critically, and document your methods clearly. You work effectively across disciplines, welcome feedback, and can explain technical ideas to audiences with different backgrounds. A commitment to responsible development and careful handling of data and model behavior is important.
Responsibilities
Design and implement software, data pipelines, and infrastructure that support AI research and model development. Partner with researchers to translate hypotheses into well-structured experiments, then analyze outcomes and identify opportunities for follow-up work. Build tools that improve the reliability, reproducibility, and efficiency of training and evaluation workflows. Help investigate model performance, including failure cases, limitations, and behavior across relevant tasks. Apply sound software engineering practices, including code review, testing, documentation, and thoughtful system design. Monitor the quality and performance of research systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to practical solutions. Share findings with teammates and collaborate with colleagues across research, engineering, safety, and product functions. Consider security, privacy, and responsible-use concerns as part of technical decisions.
